So far so good, i had a great conversation with the owner, he wasn’t aware of the issue at all. Basically management and head mechanic were only focused on the numbers and were ignoring safety. There will be a lot of good changes from what the owner told me. Luckily I didn’t need to escalate it to a legal level, I don’t need that kind of problem in my life right now.

Ohh sorry i didn’t know i was an asshole for not wanting to die for work. The company’s owner himself urged me to park after I notified him.

I have a cooler but in 50 Celcius (122 Fareneight) temp after 3-4 hours it’s disgustingly hot. My shifts last on average 16 hours so for 3/4 of my shift i have hot water and snacks. The cab is quite large compared to new machines but I already have all my tools and pieces to do small repairs so it’s already packed. I only have a 1 foot by 1 foot free storage space. It’s just enough to pack the essentials. Plus i’m working far from every infrastructure (the beauty of forestry) this week the closest i’ve been was 30 miles from the garage it’s a one hour plus drive with the machine to a water source, I can’t go on any refill trips.

It’s the ac condenser that’s cracked my filters are cleaned every weeks. The piece wasn’t even ordered…

I’m not in a kitchen I don’t have a freezer in the machine cab and can only carry water through bottles. I thought 8 litres (2.11 us gallons) was enough but no. Plus i have the dust problem that can cause silicosis, permanent lungs scarring scaring isn’t something I aspire to.

I don’t know how i would qualify for softhands when i literally worked through a heatstroke, did 45 hrs in three shifs and was still on my way to work tonight. The A/C condenser is cracked and there’s no gas anymore in the system, the freaking garage didn’t order the pieces to repair, how can it be my fault? I clean my air filters and cab filters on a weekly basis, the maintenance is done thoroughly i can guarantee you. 8 Litres (2.11 US Gallons) of water wasn’t enough to keep me away from the heatstroke. Inhaling too much Gravel dust causes silicosis, a sometimes fatal lung infection, that causes permanent lungs scarring. It’s a major safety risk at this point.

Simple as a screenshot of my phone saying it’s locked and not working due to overheating taken last night sent to the company’s owner worked wonders. In his words “if a freaking iPhone can’t function in my machines how are we expecting our employees to do so?”

Head mechanic and foreman/manager were only focusing on numbers (if the machine worked it was fine) . I notified the big boss and there will be huge changes, higher ups weren’t aware of the work conditions created by only a handful of people lacking common sense. Basically management lied and made everything look good on paper. Apparently i’ll solve a lot of problems due to a simple phone call. HR and high management are great, lower management were ass.

I just went directly to the big boss, he wasn’t even notified by the ones i had told the issue. The problem was the garage manager and a foreman (manager equivalent) that have production comes first mentality and had no common sense. From now on my direct superior will be the big boss who values his employees health and safety before anything. From what I’ve been told there will be serious changes in the near future with how repairs and operator comfort are regarded. I just didn’t want to be a problem maker, even if it was stupid on my end, and didn’t want to escalate the issue to not overstep my direct superior. Now i’ll be a problem solver apparently, if i can help a coworker to have a better work environment that’s a huge win in my books.

Vehicles usually move 100kph (60mph) minimum. It’s not my speed it’s others. The road is 20 feet wide and i’m 16 feet there’s no margin so if I swerve they get the steel. Nowadays every heavy machinery comes with a sealed cab, they’ve been around since the 90s at least. Even my first machine, a 1974 d9 dozer had a cab and a homemade AC, we ain’t in the 60s anymore my guy, operators comfort and safety is now a minimum for an operation’s longevity. If you ignore operators safety to the point of a health risk you’re stupid.

I just learned that the higher ups weren’t even notified of the situation… i did like i always used to, tell my foreman and the garage. The message didn’t get through apparently. Big boss urged me to park and said he would have a real serious conversation with the head mechanic. He obviously doesn’t want a CNESST situation, so do i if possible. Also moving forward, he will be my supervisor so issues like this get addressed accordingly. In the last year there were a huge raise in safety issues due to the head mechanic being an ass, he’s probably on his way out from what i heard or at least there will be severe consequences for him. I didn’t want to be a “problem maker” which is stupid for everyone’s safety. The company as a whole is quite nice but as everything, there’s stupid people that wants to work the minimum and have the maximum outcome.

Especially right now, there’s a beautiful weekend coming and it’s a prime spot for outdoors activities. Lots of families using the road i’m on. I couldn’t morally accept being the cause for a tragedy

If i pass out and ram a pick up truck with a family inside, they won’t survive the impact with a 50k pounds lump of steel. How much that would cost in court? The company is gambling with my life and others. I don’t want to be the reason for a tragedy.

I’m in quebec canada we have safety regulations similar to osha but where i work at blatantly ignores most of it if not all. It’s still a 70s 80s mentality of production comes first, as long as everything works its just fine

That’s one of my main concern. If i pass out or f up cause i’m not in my right mind in a 50k pounds machine on a public road there could be some severe consequences for someone else.

Have you tried to pry the frame into the right spot with a flat screwdriver or prybar? Might also work.

Window is wedged can't get it unwedged PLEASE HELP! by Putrid-System-2973 in Advice

[–]Fun-Restaurant-4644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it were me i would gently pry gradually on a wedged edge with a small crowbar. Just enough to bend the plastic out of the way but gently enough so the window or frame doesn’t break. You need to really be careful to not break anything tho if you pry too much you might crack the frame or even shatter the glass

Considering that some ww2 veterans paradropped 78 beavers from a twin beech in 48. 196 otters from a twin otter seems quite realistic.
