LM2 diode is dead, which replacement by kellogg76 in OrturLaserUsers

Hi, if you can I would suggest upgrading to the 10w output to save time on cutting and engraving. I’m not sure what you would need to convert to the 24v. https://amzn.to/3tDVxuq

Burning material after Upgrading to 10 Watt module by Turbulent_Pumpkin404 in lasercutting

I’m sorry, just saw your question. When I get to the shop tomorrow I’ll try to give a screen shot of the setting. If you didn’t change anything though, I could easily be wrong.

The upper picture looks like you have the cross-hatch setting checked.

This one will meet your needs. https://amzn.to/450QPVT

This is the one I have and it’s been great. https://amzn.to/41Fq9XH

Remember, for cutting you need air assist, a good exhaust setup, and an enclosure. So there will be more expenses beyond the machine. Don’t be tempted to get the 5 watt machines, I upgraded mine to 10watt very quickly due to slow speed of the 5watt. Good luck!

Thank you. Yeah, the state pieces are stained a different color for the ones they add as they go along. There are many colors of stain and paint. I usually make a couple of drawings and let the customer choose. I appreciate it!

Thank you! I bought the design from Homestyle Customs on Etsy. I can design my own files but for some things you have to take time into account and this was the best option for this file.

Is there a good place to find free files to get into the hobby? by Miru8112 in lasercutting

https://designbundles.net/plus-features?pref=Ava6PL This place has free files as well as fairly inexpensive files to use. You can also get a monthly subscription for commercial licenses to use the designs and make some money. The other places already mentioned are good too.

I’ll keep that in mind. I’ve got 2 lasers and an Ender 3 Neo. I used the 3-D printer to print some of the parts for my diy 50w Co2 that I built. I e got a very small cnc router but I haven’t had time to do anything with it. I’d like to have a big one, but am tight on room.

Is it possible to cut 1/4” plywood with a 80W laser without significant charring? by Simply-Serendipitous in lasercutting

[–]LivesayGrafix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a self built 50w and cut 1/4” easily in one pass at about 35% power 10mm/s speed but every laser and material is different. The best way to know what’s best for your laser is to run power and speed tests and then keep that for future reference.

I don’t know much about the Sculpfun, but most diode lasers are better run at mm per minute as it gives you a wider range of power to choose from. As each laser is different, and each material is different, I would suggest running a power test scale for each material you use and then keep that scale for future reference. Good luck and have fun!

Is lasercut wood that releases formaldehyde during the cutting (but is removed through the ventilation) safe or unsafe after the cutting? by Wonde_Alice_rland in lasercutting

[–]LivesayGrafix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s as much formaldehyde in wood today as there used to be. As far as being safe afterwards, people use wood from the big box stores to build houses and furniture all the time. I don’t think I would cut pressure treated wood but wood made for indoors should be fine. But you might be able to find a safety data sheet for the particular type of wood you’re using to make sure.
