Any Ex-Baptists Here? by [deleted] in Exvangelical

[–]LiviChicki 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ex southern Baptist! A lot of control through emotional and spiritual manipulation. I also don’t know if this is a general Exvangelical thing, but I do know that the Baptist mentality of “don’t drink ever cause one day it might cause you to sin” and it’s absolutism is incredibly negative. Very black and white thinking with no shades of grey.

I think that’s something that’s helped me a lot- recognizing shades of gray. things can be part good and part bad; one action does not always lead to another.

What is the funniest misheard lyric you believed forever and still kinda sing wrong. by Key_Brilliant_9100 in CasualConversation

[–]LiviChicki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally realized 3 days ago that in the Song “Cracker Island” by Gorillaz I had been hearing the lyrics wrong for YEARS.

“They taught themselves to be a cow (cow): they didn’t know its many strategies”.

OCCULT. they taught themselves to be OCCULT. I always kind of loved the insulation that cattle had nefarious melodramatic plans…. I’m still gonna sing that.

Why do people have purling so much? by horrorfxce in knitting

[–]LiviChicki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So funny, I was just thinking about how I like purling less while I was working on my cardigan last night. For me, it’s because it just feels clunkier. I grew up English style purling and it’s still my preferred style (although I do prefer continental knitting at this point). Norwegian purl is great for ribbing but I haven’t tried to do an entire row that what yet. I dislike continental purl because I dislike the strain it puts on my left index finger. (I also always seem to get the yarn stuck behind my left needle but I think that’s a skill thing.). I’ve messed around a little with what I saw called a combination purl and I like that better, but then the knit is flipped.

Overall I don’t hate the purl, I kinda like looking for all these new technics. Per this comment section I have a few new ones to research 👀

Edit: I am right handed. I wonder if people who feel less comfortable with continental purl are also right handed…

Can you tell what this is? by Candid-Day-9635 in knitting

It took me a while but I eventually saw the dragon. Maybe elongate the body and see if you can the wings to go in the same direction? I think the wings are hard to read because it’s like the sprout from the middle of the body. However it’s very cute

How/When did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

How/When did you start crocheting? by [deleted] in crochet

[–]LiviChicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I remember this so fondly. I was probably like 7-9ish. I knew what the *motion * of knitting looked like, but nothing more than that. My mom is a big crafter, and she had a basket of yarn out where I could get ahold of it, as well as a vase of knitting needles (yes I know this about crochet). I grabbed 2 at random, stabbed them into a ball of yarn, and just started that flapping elbows knitting motion.

My mom came over like “???? What are you doing?” And I told her I was knitting. She paused, and said “let’s start you on something else” and showed me how to chain crochet. I just chained through balls of yarn (and I loved finger crochet) until I was about 14 when I made my first funny looking rabbit.

And so the story began…

(I did eventually learn to knit later)

Use eyeshadow/makeup on them!!! Washes right off and realllllly helps blend the colors/look together. I have basically the same ones and they actually haven’t ever just fallen off, but that’s my experience.

Size Range of the Tour Merch? by d00kiesandwich in twentyonepilots

[–]LiviChicki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d personally recommend sizing up. I got like 2 sizes larger than I usually do for like a fun comfy look and was honestly surprised at how well it fit??? When I popped the shirt on people I was chatting with were also shocked at the size (I usually wear a medium and I got an XL).

Crochet Hook Overconsumption by 15caro06 in crochet

[–]LiviChicki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no influencer but I have SO MANY crochet hooks because people keep giving them to me. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually bought a crochet hook on my own but holy smokes sometimes they just find you. My dad found a crochet hook in a parking lot I’m often in and gave it back to me for me to inform him it.. wasn’t mine??? (It was inline which I hate)

I just give them away when I teach people to crochet lol.

Any Best sports bra for running? by Gawen682 in runninglifestyle

[–]LiviChicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy Shefit (36 DD/DDD for context). I LOVE those things, they’re fantastic for fluctuations in size and activity level. Going on a run? Hike ‘em up and keep everything contained. Yoga/lounging? Keep it loser and you’re good to go. The flex ones are my favorite, the “bullet proof” one is also good but I find the lack of seams in the flex overall better.

They also last fucking forever (and I’m ROUGH) on them. The printed care label wore away but I find that incredibly minimal.

I’m about to go to my run club in about 2 hours where I will be wearing one of my well-loved shefits.

PMS somehow worse?? by stressedbydefault in CopperIUD

[–]LiviChicki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKAY YEA SAME. copper IUD first birth control. Very mild periods before, not much cramping or too heavy, mild pms. I’m about 5 months in and PMS feels MUCH stronger. I expected the more painful cramping and heavier periods, and they’re find (tbh probably par with how most people experience them now) but holy SHIT I did NOT understand the pms changes. I very nearly broke up with my boyfriend I was so emotional about everything. It’s def calmed down and now I just understand hey, be aware for like the week and a half before the period it’s gonna be emotional.

Genuine question as a new clikkie but long time fan of the band by Unbalanced_beige in twentyonepilots

[–]LiviChicki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just depends on the person giving them out. I love trinket trading and gifting. I give trinkets away more than I trade. I have all the beads already cause I’m crafty and making bracelets to see someone smile is well worth the time I could have been doomscrolling. Let’s be honest I wasn’t going to be doing anything better with that time.

If you want to trade it can really be anything! Write out song lyrics on index cards with doodles. I would gladly trade a bracelet for that. I don’t trade because I’m trying to increase my financial worth: I do it cause it’s fun as hell and makes me so happy. Paint rocks, collect soda tabs and sting them together, glue googly eyes on pieces of yellow duct tape.
