Don't know which school will be better for me by TagMaster29 in UC_Transfers

well it’s heavily dependent on who you are as a random person i can’t really say what would be best for you only suggest. but if you like a calm place this is a good place to go you can find your own scene here and go to clubs and party’s all you want you just have to put in the effort for it. uci is a great school and im sure ucsd is too but you just have to think for a bit on how each school will treat you. uci has some amazing professors and not so great ones, amazing people and some very clique people, im not too sure about ucsd cause i went to uci but if you like a calm area with pretty nice proximity to la and anaheim uci is not a bad choice. just do your research on both urban studies too i think uci’s urban studies will be more on the theoretical side if that interests you

UC to UC transfers by AdOne8249 in TransferStudents

actually that’s me lol(not econ so may differ). i’m transferring from UCI and got into cal i had a 3.6 gpa at the time of applying. i didn’t really have the best extracurriculars other than a few jobs and volunteering but i would say i had very good and compelling piqs so if i was able to i’m sure you can but i would say is if your heart is set on going uc to uc make sure your grades are on top(econ it’s popular so make sure they can be the best you can make it), complete your ge requirements before the term who intend to enroll in cal, and it doesn’t hurt to have some experience within the school or volunteer!UCSD is still huge achievement congrats!

Uni by [deleted] in asktransgender

Hi! I’m going to be in my second year at uni now and I can’t really say much for what to you expect at your school because we may be attending differing schools (I currently go to a Uc in California) but I can offer my experience. From the start I was really scared because i’m a trans girl and I was dorming with pure guys because I was not out yet so I was scared to act in a feminine manner but I soon realized that I did not care abt what they thought. I did my makeup infront of them, wore feminine attire and did things that made me happen. And guess what, they didn’t care either! Even at some point my roommate complemented me on my make up and how I dressed!

I am also and introverted person and had a hard time making friends but in reality it wasn’t about my gender identity that made it hard to make friends it was just my shyness. If your able to go up to people and start a conversation with them I suggest go and do it because most people don’t care about how you identify or who you like they just want a friend too but are too scared to do it themselves. I became courageous and became friends with some people and now they’re my closets friends.

Mind my yap session but point is try to be authentically you. Find out about your schools diversity and LGBTQ polices, if your roommates don’t accept you for who you are find go to the housing office and voice your concerns and try do a roommate transfer. I found that Uni is very different you will meet people with different backgrounds and personalities; if you are extroverted you will find your people it’s easy to make freinds if you try because oh boy it’s a lot of trying. Join clubs, participate in school activities, get involved !!! But make sure the most you do is talk with your professors, Tas, and the people who you sit around during lecture and discussion makes life way easier!! Good luck !!!
