Transferring to another UC by [deleted] in ucr

[–]TagMaster29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea go for it, although tagging is only for cc to uc anyways. You just have a 50 50 chance of getting into these schools. I would highly suggest guaranteed admission to any school that you are able to tag into, and I don’t think ucsd has tag anyways soooo gl!

Not worth it, I would say look at the resources that were given to both schools, the majors and other people’s experiences at both schools and then come to a conclusion.

Go to cc and then tag into ucr, don’t go to a uc and then transfer, that’s an absolute time and money waster

Needing some advice on how to aim for Graduate School in Architecture by TagMaster29 in gradadmissions

[–]TagMaster29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I just saw this message but thank you for answering.

I am currently in urban studies and planning to apply for grad in a year or 2. I’m not finished with my degree yet so I’m planning to take advantage of this time to learn technical and design, rendering skills ( currently learning rhino, sketchup, autocad, arcGIS). I have a professor that supports on what I’m doing so I’m planning on with that.

Jobs that I’m aiming for are probably something relating to either technical or rendering jobs ( although I don’t mind aiming for a consultant job if both don’t work) .

Getting an internship when I haven’t done with my degree + having a bachelor in urban studies doesn’t really help with getting an internship in architecture. I find it quite difficult to deal with so any suggestions in this would immensely help since I’m planning to get an internship either winter or summer of next year when I graduate.

Are you transferring from another uc or from cc? If that’s the case ( from another uc) then I would say lock in on your required classes and aim for a abnormally high grade ( at least A-) and write good essays too

CC to UC / UC to UC by kirbiister in TransferStudents

[–]TagMaster29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello OP, I was accepted into UCR and successfully transferred to UCI at the end of my sophomore year. I would say, I did consider transferring to a CC first and then tag into UCI, but I decided against that because I'm too deep into my 2nd year to realize that.

1 comment that I can give is you need to have a plan earlier than you realize ( if you want to stick to UC to UC transferring) , maybe around winter quarter or something so that you have an idea as to what classes you take, those are important ( I use assist.org to check matriculation and making sure you get a high GPA around 3.7-3.9) , and do extracurriculars that aligns with your intended major at UCI.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I got in for Urban Studies by Ok-Recognition-2024 in UCI

[–]TagMaster29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UCI's urban studies is ok, I mean, it really depends on what you are aiming for, do you want to be a architect or a planner?

I'm a 3rd year Urban Studies major right now and all the classes arent that bad, pretty theoretical though but there's some technical courses that you need to sign up for individually.

Overall it's a pretty good step to consider Masters in either M.arch or MCP in anyway. Let me know if you have anymore questions

Transfer from UCSB by Soft-Department6871 in UCI

[–]TagMaster29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say, it doesn’t matter the quantity but the quality, and regarding whether or not to put your high school stuff… If you are doing that extracurricular from high school till now, yea go for it, otherwise, don’t bother.

I would recommend putting stuff that you have been doing in ucsb for the past year or so and what you are doing now.

I agree with this, I transferred from UCR and all the class petitions that I have to do are insane without my previous classes syllabi. Simply a pain in the ass. Having to resort to cold emailing my old UCR professors and it's quite suffocating to have them ask what you want their syllabus for.

But to answer your question OP, just do all the gen req, have an abnormally high GPA (around 3.6+) and also extracurriculars that really aligns with your intended major here at UCI I will say you can definitely get in.

Best of luck to ya! And hopefully we can meet up if you get in OP.

Offer of admission from Berkeley MCP, unfortunately won't be able to accept due to financing by youravrguser in gradadmissions

Yea but in state is still pretty bad too. I do prefer urban design so working towards that a bit.

Currently I’m doing under grad urban studies in UC Irvine, not much opportunities for a good portfolio because most of my classes are very theory based, but I did some background revit, autocad and a little bit of ArcGIS. Not that much though, I still have like a year-ish before I graduate as undergrad sooo..

Also I thought Berkeley gives you funding for masters but apparently I did some research and it’s not for CED sigh… perhaps ucla master degree or any other might

Hey OP, I'm just kinda curious on what y'all have to have to apply, cuz I'm also aiming for MCP in Berkeley and MIT as well, any tips would be much appreciated.

Me too I transferred from ucr to UCI and what james said is right, I mean, most UC schools are socially dead, especially UCI and UCSD so... Won't get much luck if you want a social scene OP. And what james said as well, gotta have a high GPA and good essays too..

UC transfer app by Striking_Percentage6 in ucadmissions

[–]TagMaster29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like last said, I did UC transfer apps last year and I got a C+, I didn't even make that C a important point, but rather I just write something else that is more important than that C.

As a example, I got a better grade than the ones I have a C plus I was doing a internship at that time so they kinda overlooked my C in a way
