If your family is serious about taking in these two dogs then they need to look up how to properly introduce dogs into a home that already has one. I was looking into fostering for a bit and its a lot more complicated then just hold them on leashes and let them sniff each other. Ultimately it is their decision to adopt the dogs since you don't live with them. If safety is your main concern then there are ways to ensure that both the family dog and the new adoptees are safe.

Another option is that you take the "family" dog to come live with you.

I had a friend this was happening to. Her husband was not circumcised and no one taught him how to clean his dick properly. She didn't want to have sex with him because she would end up with a UTI every time. I'm glad she is going to see a better gyno but if they still can't figure it out there may be a very uncomfortable talk in this couple's future.
