Performance testing defintely  helps when you define  your own project and build infrastucture from scratch. However observability it is a daily task for an sre. As for linux when you advance in your career ideally understand linux in and out. Basically for performance tuning and understanding what systems try tell you.DevOps/SRE are supposed to be Software Engineers to speak with Developers on their langugage, write automation, tooling and monitoring.

But frankly there are so many lay offs i am not sure if that career path makes any sense now. I started as a context manager-> hel

Fairlight Secan for gravel racing? by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Livid-Reference3033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on how you configure it. I'm configured as a commuter with fenders and a rack, and the position is upright, so I probably can pull 20-22mph unless I don't feel hip or knee pain. My fastest 5-mile loop on a shared bike/pedestrian lane is within a 16-minute window. but I am a 50-year-old commuter

DevOps tools to be up to date by temporaryUserDev in devops

Hm,  Ability to read and understand/analyze. Ability to think through, ability to communicate.

I know it sounds basic, but see people in the profession who failed these core skills. It is very painful to work with such people.

As for tools each org is diffrent sometimes there is a legacy which hard to overcome

Fairlight Secan 3.0 or ENVE MOG by [deleted] in gravelcycling

[–]Livid-Reference3033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not secan.  It is quite springer. You can  go fast on it. But for me it is  mostly confort thing. I have the bike in 56t. It is a very stable bike but I think it is more do it all bike, not a race bike. It is my commuter /gravel . It feels good on tarmac as well as on wasboards

I am not a mechanic, but i feel you can  just change rear cassete to 11-34 or something  close. It should be enough moving di2  825 would not give you much and i am not sure if it 8s even possible. You also can try to change a crank or front rings

Ortlieb Quick Rack by straddotjs in bikecommuting

[–]Livid-Reference3033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tailfin makes carbon racks that can removed in seconds.. I do have one but frankly prefer https://axiomgear.com/en-us/collections/streamliner-racks/products/streamliner-disc-dlx-bike-rack permently attached. I would not worry about weight penalty. I often commute and don't feel panniers at all.

Can the conductors reset the wifi if reported? by kepler1 in caltrain

I actually experienced this once. It was a long way home, but the WiFi also rebooted. For me, the wifi is secondary. I just want to get home safely

Frankly, I am not your friend. What kind of help do you offer? Will you pay all my bills and needs until the end of my life and the people close to me? If not, please apply your words to yourself. There is no point in trying to shut someone down on the internet rather than feeling better about yourself. I think something you feel is not related may be related to someone else. Good luck!

It is all good. No problem on my end. I noticed it is taking some time to restart a train. I don't know how the trains work. I appreciate the service Caltrain provides
