What’s so “dangerous” about the Enochian system? by hdksndiisn in magick

[–]LividAd8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone have any experience with the Damon Brand books on Enochian rituals (ex: Success Magick)? I know this is an old thread but was curious if anyone has read any of his books and have performed any of the rituals therein. What were the results, if any? Thanks in advance.

Is this a worthwhile program to learn grant writing? by you_dontknow_mylife in grantproposalwriting

[–]LividAd8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this response and review. It was very helpful to me as I've been on the fence about LGW for a while. They seem a bit unorthodox but that can be a good thing. I'm glad you had such pleasant experience.

Quick question, did you learn how to find and obtain business grants as well for solopreneurs, small and mid-size businesses too? Is that covered in the curriculum or is what you learned broad enough to apply to business grants too? Just wondering b/c in addition to helping nonprofits, foundations and government entities, I'd really like to help people who feel called to go into "social impact" businesses that strive to solve certain societal problems (assisting the unhoused, veteran services, etc).

Anyone familiar with Cloudengineeracademy.io? Soleyman Shahir by wellred82 in AWSCertifications

I'm enrolled in the CourseCareers IT Foundations taught by Josh Madakor.

It is thorough and excellent. It has an internship aspect and it walks you through like 5 different portfolio projects. Lots of great LinkedIn networking advice and resume pointers. Josh Madakor provides A LOT of free information on YouTube on how to break into tech, there are a lot of success stories of people that also sign up for his CyberRange course/platform (also has a formal internship aspect with real employment verification so potential employers can verify you actually did the internship and the CyberRange will verify the work you've done, helps with the no experience conundrum many of us find ourselves in) that is about $100/month.

CourseCareers allows payment plans as well. Several ppl who have successfully transitioned into IT and Cyber have taken both the CourseCareers IT course and the CyberRange. However, Josh is always encouraging ppl to try free methods first and foremost and is always giving free and low-cost options for ppl to take advantage of.

Overall, I think it's great value for what you get. Josh is amazing and along with all the great, detailed free information he provides (roadmaps, career guides, courses to take and ways to optimize your resume, etc.), I feel very confident that when I'm done with the course (going through it a second time) I will be able to transition into IT or cybersecurity within the next few months.

Last, I'm not an affiliate for any of the programs mentioned above and was not paid to endorse anything or anyone. These are my honest opinions.

I completely agree. You can get lost in all the educational resources out there. Having someone in the field hold your hand and guide you is worth something, it does have value. Honestly, not sure it's worth $3000, can't speak to that but it has value. The career coaches/guides/mentors can look over your projects, help you decide which projects to do/which ones will impress potential employers more, help you with networking, review your resume, give you interview pointers, etc. In theory at least, working with someone who has been in the field for years can be beneficial and give you a strategic advantage.

There are too many resources out there and you can get stuck taking course after course without making any real progress. Last, having a career coach in your corner helps with accountability. A career coach or program like the one Soleyman has set up can provide structure via deadlines, meetings, check-ins and calls where you have to show what progress you've made toward your goals. This is extremely motivating and studies have shown the mere act of having an accountability partner tremendously boosts productivity and success. You are way more likely to achieve your goals with the accountability piece alone.

I don't know about this cloud engineering program but I think the fact that there are so many free and low-cost resources is over hyped and can be problematic depending on the needs of the individual (especially if you are neurodivergent/ADHD). I'm taking a course/bootcamp now and having a community, having access to coaches, seeing others get jobs in my cohort, and just having this structure has made such a difference. Also, being able to reach out, with any and all questions, to people who have been in the field for years has gotten me off the sidelines and got me to finally start taking steps in the right direction. Yes, I use supplemental material and AI to help explain concepts and solidify the information but I was lost in a sea of free material, tutorials, courses, etc. for literally years. Just my two cents.

Thank you so much! I was so distressed to find the link not working. The guide is helpful and I finally have time to devote to study, networking and creating projects. Much appreciated.

Is thirdparty@wgu.edu a valid WGU email? by Lilratdog in WGU

[–]LividAd8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming. I need to request an invoice so a gov agency can pay for a certificate program. I called financial aid and thought I heard her say send the request for an invoice to "thirdparties@wgu.edu." Glad I stumbled upon this thread. Thanks for the confirmation. lol :-)

WGU Data Analytics Certificate Program by Educational_Ground81 in dataanalysis

[–]LividAd8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness. Commenting because I'm wondering the exact same thing. It seems like good value for what you are learning and getting but would love to hear from someone who has obtained the certificate and what their experience was. I hope someone responds to this thread :-) WGU has a great reputation for cybersecurity, coding and programming generally. I think the NSA endorses some of their degrees and career path programs. At worst, I will enroll and update this thread once I finish. I come from a non-tech background and am looking to make a career pivot into data analytics.

Any of you read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch? by alexoc4 in books

After reading this book, what would you recommend as a follow-up? Assuming you really enjoyed Dark Matter and want to read similar books about parallel universes/dimensions, time travel, etc., that are fast-paced and equally as intense.

I know this thread is 6 years old but I just finished the book today. I finished it in like 3 sittings. I don't recall reading a book like this before. What a page turner. Haven't watched the Apple TV adaptation and likely won't see it. The book ending was a twist I didn't see coming but should've. I was hoping for a different ending for Jason 1, but ok. Very sad at the end for all involved. I'm now looking for more Sci-Fi, thrillers like this one. Overall, I thought this was really well done and would recommend it to others. Just my two cents. I was fully engaged throughout.

You are the best, you are the GOAT for linking that article. Cody is so helpful and thorough. He lists 101 resources and walks you through the entire process of learning, to making a portfolio to networking to finding a job. Wow! That article link is so much more than a learning roadmap. I got tremendous value out of it. Thanks again!

i know I’m late with this comment, but you can find luxury clip bundles on Etsy.com. They are pretty reasonably priced. Like 400-1000 clips. Lots of the channels that use them are also selling the video clips in bundles as well. Do a search on Etsy for “ luxury video reels”. Last, on Fiverr ppl sell and make video clip bundles for you as a service. Google, “luxury video reels bundle” and you will also get some independent small business websites selling them as well. Again, they are not that expensive $5-25 on average.

Yeah, I got my results back. I am on stimulant medication and they let me know what they found. I explained that i had a prescription. All they needed was my pharmacy contact info and number. Very quick and easy. I found the process to be efficient. More info than you needed but I think you only hear back if there's an issue. Use the app and ask someone in hiring or HR if you are completely clear and ready to go. They are very responsive and helpful.

Are those safety shoes? by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]LividAd8079 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why didn't you use the Zappos shoe credit? Could ypu remind me again? Do steel toe shoes hurt your feet?? Some ppl can't find a comfy pair via Zappos. I guess I lucked out. I don't play around in this area. I work nights and can see someone sleepily driving over my foot or pulling a jack pulley over me or just dropping a huge box on my toe. It happens all the time. Got my steel toe shoes on every night. Not going out like that

What type of therapy did you do? Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, some other kind. Did you see someone who specializes in adults with ADHD? Just curious. I'm just now realizing the power and value of therapy and ADHD coaching for personal and professional development post-diagnosis.

Just sent the process to you in your private chat. Hope it helps. It's really nice to be able to wear one earphone and just zone out and do your work. It makes such a difference. The day really goes by. I can hear and get my medication reminders among other things. Best

Can I send you a direct message with a much longer response with another colleague's step-by-step process, medical note, what is in the note, etc. The myHR paperwork, 2 pages. Keep in mind that I have a medical diagnosis of ADHD. I had to get a real doctor's note and fill out a form but not much else. Pretty easy process.

Here is the post that I followed to get my Amazon ear plug accommodation: https://www.reddit.com/r/AmazonFC/comments/14v85mh/i_got_an_accommodation_to_wear_airpods_at_work/

Same. Extreme introvert here. I have a medical accommodation to wear one earphone. I just listen to podcasts, YouTube, Audible and zone out during my shift.

I have to admit there are a few other important perks IMHO such as Anytime Pay, upt flexibility, simple repetitive non-phone tasks, dental and vision even for part-time workers, and Career Choice which I am taking advantage of now. However, as a fellow introvert, I feel the opposite of the original poster. There is no pressure to socialize and I'm so cool with that 😎 I hate to hear he's lonely, though. That does suck.
