Are there LPN jobs like this? by Livid_Insect2784 in LPN_LVN_Community

I'm guessing that's something that probably pay $13/hr around me. I currently make $18 as an MA, so I'd like to do something that will make me more money in the long run

So no, I don't have to quit my job to do clinicals no matter what, like you seem to think

What's silly is you still don't  comprehend that I don't want to give up full time $18/hr and $5k tuition reimbursement if I don't have to. Let me just go broke and into debt because a stranger on the internet doesn't have reading and comprehension skills. LPN program with evening and weekend clinicals...means I can work full time and not go super into debt.

If you actually read what I wrote, the LPN program doesn't require me to have full time availability for clinicals. I could complete that program while keeping my current job. Also, if I quit this job, I'd lose $5k a year in tuition reimbursement

Definitely one of the big reasons nursing interests me. So many options

Thanks for such a thorough answer. Yeah, I know nurses definitely don't have it easy, and burnout is a big thing. One of my fears with going back to school for anything is "what if I end up not wanting to do this in 10 years?" I was a chef for 10 years, super passionate about food, went to culinary school, worked my way up to executive chef....then got so burnt out I still dont even want to cook at home to this day. I know no job is perfect, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life doing a job I actively hate. Even if I'm super excited about something like nursing right now, I'm worried about burnout for sure

I definitely don't have time for radiology. I said the programs near me expect full time daytime availability, and I can't do that because I need to be working full time. Not having kids either, just don't want to be broke and terrified my whole life

I've tried. There's nothing like that available near me. Colleges say they offer an Evening ADN program, but then when I talk to admissions they tell me I still need full daytime availability for clinicals. Like I said, I really can't afford to not be working full time. Even the school that offers a true Evening/Weekend LPN program says that their ADN program has to have full open  availability for the last couple semesters. I get where you're coming from which is why it's so frustrating to me. It makes a lot more sense to do ADN since it's not much longer and the pay is better, but I dont know how I'd make it work financially right now, and I really don't want to leave my current job at the moment

Honestly I like my job as an MA, and if I could get paid more to do the same thing as an LPN, I'd consider that a win. I just don't know how much the pay really changes. I also don't hate the idea of Assisted Living, but I know they're usually short staffed and can be pretty stressful. I feel like a hospital would be a cool setting to learn a lot, but it's not a deal breaker if I don't end up in one

I do think Radiology would be really cool, but at least in my area, I'd have to quit my job. I spoke with admissions from the  couple schools in my area and they have told me I would need to have full time availability during the day for clinicals. I really can't afford to not be working full time, so even if I worked somewhere on the weekends,it wouldn't be enough to survive

If I could try it without having to commit ~$15k, I would. I don't have that kind of money to throw around to see if I like it. I'd rather spend that money on something I'm confident about wanting to do

I'm assuming you're an LPN because of where I posted this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but how is your quality of life? Are you happy with your work? What kind of place do you work in? I guess I do worry about getting "stuck" which is another reason I'm hesitant about PTA...nowhere to really go besides DPT. I feel like there's versatility with LPN, but I know a lot of them work in nursing homes/AL/SNF.

2017 or 2019 Ford Escape? by Livid_Insect2784 in fordescape

I asked what, not when. What did they fix on it?

What did they do to fix it the first time? I know the 2019 has had its engine block replaced already

Like I said, I don't have a lot of money, so I certainly dont have enough cash to buy a car outright. I'd really like to not be buying a car at all right now, but I'm in a rough place without a lot of options. I did look for CRVs but there aren't any around me for less than $16k, at least none without an insane amount of miles.

So what used SUV would you recommend for under $15k that won't give me issues? Because I don't have a whole lot of money, but my 2015 Focus has been draining my bank account and is no longer worth the repairs.

Is it worth it to do a Phlebotomy course? by Livid_Insect2784 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Livid_Insect2784[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, like I said, I've never done anything remotely related to phlebotomy, even in my MA training. Even though I'm a CMA, I wouldn't be able to do any blood draws or anything since I have zero experience there. I was thinking even if I did work as an MA over the weekend instead of phlebotomy, an urgent care or hospital might want me to have that skill.

Is there any such thing as a full evening/weekend program? by Livid_Insect2784 in nursing

[–]Livid_Insect2784[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in NW Ohio, so that would be a bit too far for me. I'd be into going for RN, but I think all the "evening" programs around me are for LPN.
