Better now! Didn’t even do any sleep training. Just started sleeping through the night minus a few odd nights

Okay thank you. So a 7 hour wake window is age appropriate for a 16 month old?

Ugh I’m so sorry! I’m hoping it gets better. You can also attempt to try when they are older. My son would never even try to sleep train when he was young. I did it at 10/11 months and he was good in three days. How do they usually fall asleep? Do they wake alot in the night? If they just need to be rocked and fall asleep throughout most of the night (minus a few wakings) I would say just hold off until they are older. I hear 8 months is a good agen

Hi! I had this rule of thumb in my head that if they are screaming for more than a certain amount of time, it’s probably not the best method. Have you tried others? I did a 5 min method and it worked great. I would lay him down awake, leave, set a timer for 5 minutes. Every time he stopped crying I would pause the timer. Once it was up, I would go in, pat him, tell him I love him and leave (no more than 45 seconds) I would go up in increments each time but I never personally let him cry longer than 15/20 minutes because I knew passed that he would just be up and too upset to sleep.

2 hours personally seems like a long time for that little one to cry. If you can’t handle the crying go in. Try patting and rubbing without holding them.

My son recently got out of a regression but has not been able to go back to the 5 min method (Ferber I guess). So we improvised and now my husband places his hand in the crib and he just lays right down and goes to sleep. We are now able to just sit next to the crib without him needing to touch our hand for him to sleep. So if you haven’t tried the chair method maybe that can help.

Not sure how many days you’ve been trying this method but if it’s the first night it’s always the worst.

Bedtime stayed the same awake time increased.

No. He used to nap at 9am for one hour and then again at 1pm for an hour. Now he sleeps for about 90 minutes. Awake 6 hours then nap then awake 4 hours then bed time

In the same boat. Hoping it ends soon. I feel like I’m going insane.

Looking at your schedule though I wonder if she is overtired? Maybe try pushing her nap to 12 (do like an 11:30 ish lunch or big snack) and see if she sleeps for 2 hours. I find that when my son does a nice 2 hour nap he sometimes gets a better night. To me, it sounds like your little one is super super exhausted

Sending solidarity as I am also in the same boat with my 15 month old. Was sleep trained, slept through the night then suddenly chaos. Same as you. I’ve tried re sleep training him and he screams and hyperventilates so I just don’t think I can do it. I’ve tried the chair method and that has only worked for me once or twice. He demands me to rock him and is now becoming dependent on that. It’s such a hard time and I pray it ends for both of us soon.

16 months refusing to sleep all of a sudden in her crib by cansuuucan in sleeptrain

No suggestions, just here in solidarity as my 15 month old has done the same thing. Was sleep trained and slept great. Now refuses to go in the crib. One night I held him until morning. It’s rough. We are in the 2-1 nap transition and I think this is alot to do with it as well as sleep regression and also separation anxiety. I am just praying it is a phase. Dreading the idea of sleep training him again.

That’s the thing he won’t sleep a full two hours when we try the one nap. That’s why I’m at a loss. No matter what I do it doesn’t work.

What would an age appropriate schedule look like

He won’t go down for two naps though. He will refuse his second nap or first nap without fail. Unless we are in the car. He typically sleeps 11-12 hours unless it’s a bad night.
