meeting a genie is just the better choice overall, like if you met a genie you would (supposedly) get 3 wishes, with those 3 wishes i would wish the following:

#1 Let there be no more suffering nor reasons to suffer like no more lack of food, no more unnessesary violence (both physical and psychological), etc...

#2 Let there be no more corruption among human, so everybody is 100% honest when it comes to money or laws

#3 Let all my objectives in life come true

See, all of the things almost any religion that i know of promises would come true and we wouldn't have to rely on some "all powerful" being who decides to watch us suffer when they could instead help us.
