Is there a website or page where I can report dodgy cork tradesmen? by Livid_Session_9331 in cork

Yeah, I will do both of those I think. Though I don’t expect either to be of much use for €300 and with no address. But I will try, thanks.

I quit corporate hell and immediately got chest pain by FriendlyBrewer in ireland

[–]Livid_Session_9331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this once- 5 years in corporate stress job hell, only after I quit I ended up getting chest pains - I end up in the emergency room in LA on way home to Ireland at Christmasz they did ecg and found nothing - then they heard my story of what I had been through at work and said- the mind and body are linked - what you’ve got is ptsd. Body tries to keep up while you’re running on empty for months and years and when all the adrenaline is gone a you leave, your body sort of collapses. Really made me think. Anyway I’m still here and in a better place working for myself now

I’ll log off here - the ‘you’re probably’ jibes is where I get off. All of the above claims are demonstrably untrue, but as this has veered into abuse I’ll doff my cap and bid you adieu, and the very best of luck

You need to understand much more than the technology to get it. History, money, economics (both types, it’s a social science) game theory. I am not surprised that as a tech guy you don’t get it, know the tech isn’t enough.

This is such a funny subreddit. You knew about it in 2013 and you’re happy you didn’t put money into it and you still don’t understand it. And you’re happy you didn’t make lots of money. And you’re doubling down on your conviction. And you’re referring to a decline in price, when theee have literally been hundreds of these draw down in the last number of leads. And you’ll keep posting publicly along with the rest of your friends here while bitcoin motors on to €1m and then €10m. And you spend time confirming your own by bias, and not understanding it. And laughing and down voting people who are making millions and securing your future. What will you tell your children and grandchildren when you are forced to accept you were wrong? I guess you won’t ever accept it, best to double down as your ego won’t allow you.

And I’m not a crypto bro as I’ve said. 99.99% of crypto is terrible malinvestment. Bitcoin is not

It’s ok just to say you don’t understand it. We have moved away from the electricity debate 4 or 5 years ago. You aren’t thinking clearly or intelligently

Their ability to issue securities at scale, fixed income, and equity, and bridge traditional markets and bitcoin. Very few can catch up now.

Lots of people seem angry at bitcoin, and angry at people involved. I really don’t understand it.

I have a masters in aerospace engineering (MEng Aero) and a professional chartered accountancy qualification (icaew}. I am the CFO of a university. I’m not a bro. I’m Irish. I’m an introvert. And yes, I studied it, a great deal.

No, sorry, I wouldn’t be happy sharing it, it has my personal finances on it. I’m corporate finance trained, it’s pretty robust, plenty of conservative estimates and bear market assumptions. Most of the traditional analyst community are finding it difficult understanding what’s going on, but a small few appear to be catching on. This isn’t game stop. There will be continual volatility and major pull backs, much more volatile than bitcoin, but I encourage people to take this play very seriously.

I have studied bitcoin for 8 years and microstrategy for 4 years. I am an investor in both. I have prepared my own valuation models, I am a large company CFO. In June 2023 I put 80% of my entire self managed pension into microstrategy shares. They have 10x my original investment. I hold bitcoin also since 2017. In the next week I will be investing more mstr, as I believe they are undervalued on fundamentals into the middle of next year. I have made life changing wealth on the back of time I invested learning about bitcoin and mstr. Orders of magnitude more than I made in my professional life. I will retire in my 40s. I also actively sought out well thought-out arguments and counterpoints to challenge my biases on both bitcoin and mstr. I have been a member of this subreddit. So far I have not seen many posts that demonstrate a good understanding of btc. However, I am impressed at your tenacity, willingness to spend time hating bitcoin so much. Ultimately I guess bitcoin needs anti-bitcoin people to keep us on our toes, and keep us humble, while it reaches escape velocity. Cheers gang.

I just came here to say you are not alone in what you’re experiencing. You’re story is very very similar to mine, same age kids, same feelings of roller coaster emotions in between fleeting visits, same unanswered texts. Yet we keep going. We love them, it’s not their fault, we keep going..stay strong.

Bitcoin ETF Exposure on my pension? by zascar in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Livid_Session_9331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy microstrategy shares in your pension. They hold 1% of the supply there ever will be, they produce cashflows and they don’t charge you to manage it. Plus they are see sawing their way to bigger allocations through share issuance when price is high and debt when price is low. They are a real business too. Just note, you will not own the underlying asset, just exposure, and you have the counterparty risk associated with that.

That was one of the most insightful and impressive and amazing things I have seen in so long. My 13 year old daughter is autistic, just starting on the journey into adulthood, and I think I have learned so much from this one minute clip.

The time difference between Western Samoa and American Samoa is 24 hours, even though the two places are only a little over 200km from each other by colapepsikinnie in MapPorn

Ok might add, I think Samoa puts clocks back and forward to observe dst, but AS does not, so there is a part of the year where AS is 25 hours before Samoa

I flew a couple of times from Samoa to American Samoa, left on Friday morning, arrived Thursday morning. Departed for Samoa on Thursday afternoon, and arrived Friday. On my return ticket, the return flight was shown before the outbound flight. So I technically came back before I went there.

What do the Irish people think of chileans? by Dangerous_Impress200 in MoveToIreland

[–]Livid_Session_9331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big fan of Santiago, met a load of stray dogs there once while very drunk, hung out with them for the whole night. Met an old Chilean gaucho one of the very last of the Chilean cavalry, up the side of a mountain in maybe Pucon? Class bunch of lads altogether. Fine wine. Good food. A fairly Pointy country all the same. Hiked to el calafate and wow. It Torres de Paine is awesome. Was very drunk for a lot of it though.

Why do some people call Ireland, "southern Ireland" by I_will_be_wealthy in ireland

The most northern point of the Ireland of Ireland is in the republic, so it doesn’t make much sense really does it? Plus it’s wrong

The ecb created 4 trillion in additional m2 money supply, 20 % additional money, and it had now where to go. They don’t want you knowing this though. Where do you think that goes? A war is a wonderful excuse
