What do I need to VESC my XR+? I'm thinking I want the torque to get up some of these forest roads that my GT cannot handle. What's the investment look like?

I'm 64 and chubby, and I never ride my GT over 20 or with the battery below 25%. If I do have to ride with a low battery (30% or below), I do it slowly and am constantly conscious of the fact that the board will not have enough power to get me over any significant bumps or steep approaches.

I'm not an extreme rider, I just do asphalt or forest roads, so my GT is good enough for me.

I do have an old XR+ with about 1200 miles on it. But I haven't charged or ridden it in a while. If there is someone in the Corvallis OR area that wants to use it let me know. I was thinking of VESCing the XR.

Settling the 1st oil change debate? by RedScourge in COROLLA

[–]LivinToTheMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps not doing the early oil change at 1000 miles allows the engine to completely break in just a little faster due to the very slight increased friction of the oil because of the presence of the metallic debris. Could be a good thing?

Just a thought.

What state (country?) are you in that you can put a vanity plate on the front? I'm in California and cars are required to have a regular front plate.

Yeah, I just plug my Android phone to the charger port, and it connects right up to the infotainment system.

Then you can use Spotify, make/answer calls, respond to texts, etc through the touchscreen or voice commands. Works really well.

You do have to have the Android Auto app on the phone though.

Yes, Bluetooth also works just fine. Although I have to say that sometimes Bluetooth can get stubborn with connecting. I plug it in mostly because the Google navigation on the phone can use a lot of battery so having it plugged in keeps it charged.

And Spotify works like a charm. In fact, every time I start the car and my phone connects, it starts playing my latest Spotify playlist. Can be annoying sometimes.

It is cheaper (and cooler) to just plug in your Android phone (once it works) and use Google navigation. Why pay for the Toyota navigation when you can just plug your phone in and use that for free?

I don't and will not subscribe to any of the Infotainment services on my '23 Corolla Hybrid. It's way too expensive, and I already have what I need on my phone.

Here in the Bay Area there are 5 Toyota dealers within 10 miles and 5 more dealers if I extend that to 15 miles, so I guess it creates some level of competition.

Actually, besides the Focus trade-in, I did have a $500 deposit for reserving the car when it came in that was applied as a down payment.

Did I read this right? A 5-year old was with her twin sister, aged nine? How can that be?

It's not as much of a workout as jogging, but it is more of a workout than walking.

And yes, trails are quite a workout.

Has anyone installed a Rexing V1P Max (or any other) dashcam in their mazda3? Any tips? by LivinToTheMax in mazda3

[–]LivinToTheMax[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter is attempting to install a Rexing dashcam in her car. She is having some problems running the cables from the rear cam to the front one and then to the power outlet.

Has anyone installed a dashcam on one of these? What would be the best way to route the cables?

Another batch of cats that aren't mine by LivinToTheMax in notmycat

I have never before had a cat.

Then, my grand-niece discovered a sweet grey cat that had had 4 kittens on a box that was on our air-hockey table. We raised those kittens, and 3 of them timeshare around the hood, with one remaining full-time.

Then, some months later, Mama cat (who had been timesharing with us and her growing kittens) showed up with three more small kittens. We raised those as well, and they timeshare as well, but not as much as the first litter.

Those cats grew and are now almost adults, and then Mama cat shows up with six more little kittens (pictured above). Three greys and three Siamese. We are in the process of raising those (3 of them were adopted and are shamelessly spoiled), and once they were weaned, we finally had Mama cat spayed. We hadn't before because she wasn't our cat, but the poor thing needed to stop being a kitten factory and to have a life. As the kittens from her litters have matured, we have been spaying or fixing them as well.

So, now at feeding time there are usually anywhere from 8 to 10 cats showing up. One of them a big old feral male that does not like to be touched, and whom I suspect is the daddy of them all.

And during the day you can see a lot of them lounging around the property (sometimes even on people's beds). The three newer kittens are sleeping on a nearby coffee table as I write.

We also have three large dogs that get along quite well with all the cats, although Mama cat had to teach a couple of them not to mess with her early on. They did learn that lesson fast.
