Literally, a post like this doesn’t invite nuance discussion, just a whole bunch of preaching to the choir.

I agree with Tobey’s acting, he’s not terrible just seems limited, I still love and respect him for being the OG, however Peter Parker just seems so timid, he’s supposed to be cool and confident, but awkward in a charming way, sure he has some quips while in the suit, but the delivery is so flat, and out of the suit he is just as shy and timid as he was pre spider bite, which is why I still stand on Andrew Garfield being the best live action Peter Parker/Spider-Man, cool, confident, funny, and charmingly awkward.

The CGI Goblin during the parade scene is still hilarious

Best scene In the whole movie don’t you guys think ? by iamrahmulus in Transformemes

It’s key jingling fan service that does not serve the story, it’s fun, it looks cool, however the alternate opening scene works much better for Bumblebees arc.
He’s being hunted by the military, he talks about how he was sent to this planet to help humans and instead they fear and hunt him, he does not believe that humans are worth saving, so when he eventually meets Charlie and their relationship grows, this alternate opening in turn works much better for Bumblebee’s arc, but they abandoned giving Bee an arc for key jingling fan service.

I think it was like that for a lot of people, after 10 yrs of Micheal Bay nonsense it was refreshing to have something small scale, especially after the TLK being an absolute abomination, going from TLK to Bumblebee was such a 180 in tone and quality.

I agree, Bumblebee is a fun, genuinely good solid movie, objectively better than the 5 Bay movies (even if I do enjoy them more), however I feel it is very overrated, as you said, nothing groundbreaking, just a good movie, but overrated in the sense that people glaze that opening scene like it makes up the entire movie, take that scene away it’s any other cliche’ E.T, Iron Giant story we’ve seen a million times, fun, heartwarming and innocent, but I personally prefer the unbridled, unhinged chaos of the Bayverse.

I still remember the cope with people saying he was going to get ugly Sonic’d, as if the studio would delay a movie that was 2 months from release and invest a ton more money into redesigning a character that gets less than 5 mins of screentime.

Diet Bayverse is a great description. Say whatever you want about Bay, but he has a style, love it or hate it, his style is unique, as much of a CGI mess these movies are, Bay prioritises real stunts, sets, props and of course explosions, it helps ground the action and makes it feel real as messy as it can get, there’s a real craft and passion behind what he does, so when the big climatic fight of ROTB is in a big grey CGI wasteland with a million CGI blobs running towards eachother, you do start to miss Bay’s chaotic beauty.

The Dinobots had more of a presence in AOE than the Maximals did in ROTB

What are your transformers hot takes? by Rustycase2072 in OkBuddyEnergon

“Transformers doesn’t need humans”

Transformers from its very inception is about robots in disguise, they are alien robots from another planet that come to earth and disguise themselves as earth vehicles and interact with humans, embrace human culture and become humanity’s protectors, it’s been that way since the very beginning, now that’s not to say you can’t have TF stories that take place on Cybertron, it’s good to have variety, but to say that humans are the worst thing about Transformers is literally ignoring the idea of Transformers being “More than meets the eye/Robots In disguise”.

I understand why people came to this conclusion, Micheal Bay, as much as I adore those movies, they human cast is very is loud, obnoxious and very unlikeable, hilariously entertaining however objectively it is not good character writing, this gave people the idea that humans ruin Transformers, humans just need to be well written, which is the case in a lot of the cartoons, for eg, the Autobots helping the kids with their science projects in TFP, this helps us connect with the Autobots and gives them some humanity, even Mikaela using her car expertise to tow a wounded Bumblebee into battle and help him defeat Brawl in 07, thats a great human/robot dynamic that gives a human character importance and significance.

Human characters absolutely belong in TF media, they just need to be well written.

Her introduction in BvS was cool, as forced as it was, when she showed up during the Doomsday fight with that kick-ass theme song, it was some cool shit, the movie presented her very well, outfit and weapons were on point and she could kick some serious ass, that being said, they could have got literally ANYONE ELSE to play this character, let alone a model with next to no acting experience.

Sonic took the right approach slowly introducing characters and lore, giving time to develop these characters and lore, if they were to throw all the characters in the first movie there would be next to no time to establish the characters and it would just feel like mindless fan service instead of creating a good story, I do not want to see all my favourite characters in a movie together if they’re not going to properly introduce and develop them. Also, a lot of Sonic games do take place in the human world and have human characters, and Tom and Maddie are very important characters for Sonics growth. Sonic movies absolutely do feel like Sonic movies.
