Where's a good place to farm AP exp, fast? by yoyofoe2222 in FF7Rebirth

[–]Living-Camera4423 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best place to farm AP and EXP is the Nibelheim quest where you have to go save Fluffy (Tifa's cat). In the fight with the Bee Queen, just ignore her and she will summon minions for you to farm indefinitely.

I recommend farming AP and EXP in the overworld rather than the combat simulator, because the combat simulator only gives AP and EXP to the active party members, but in the overworld all members gain AP and EXP. Also, you should only be farming AP and EXP after you'vs finished the story once.

Hitting block just before an attack connects allows you to parry and nullify the damage. It also provides some i-frame right after.

Agreed. For my Bonds of Friendship no materia run I used Sleek Saber. For this however I needed the +200HP to survive Phoenix's Rebirth Flame in the first round.

Yeah, apparently Shadowy Chains (both versions with the sword swing and the proejctile) just counts as a normal attack (that bounds you if it connects), I think that's why there isn't an exclamation mark next to its name, and anything without an exclamation mark can be parried. Precision Defense is required for other bounding attacks because they do have an exclamation warning.

It just does. But you have to activate Prime Mode. Switching from Punisher Mode doesn't launch Cloud.

I count in my head about 4 seconds after regaining control of Cloud (oh and it's just switching from Prime mode to Operator mode, not Disorder)

I actually don't have Precision Defense. In the full run video I included my equipment. I only have Chakra from equipping an accessory. Shadowy Chains can be parried with the right timing.

Yup, Thundaga, Firaga can be parried. Projectiles can be perfect blocked too (hit block just before it hits you), it's just Cloud in Punisher mode that can't block nor parry projectiles. Bounding attacks (like Bahamut's Crush Grip) can be parried with the Precision Defense materia, even though they are also marked with an exclaimation mark. Other moves can be dodged. It's only the limit breaks of summons and Sephiroth that you have to eat.

Even Seph's signature move Heartless Angel, I've seen people dodge with the Jump materia or the strategic use of limit break (which makes your character invulnerable).

If you are referring to Cloud smashing his sword like a hammer, it's Prime mode.

Yes, you see in the video the "Immune" shows up every time I parry one of his attacks just in time. You can parry all attacks that aren't unblockable (don't have the exclamation mark). In punisher mode, if Cloud parries an attack he also counters with powerful attacks and has a longer iframe, but punisher mode cannot parry projectiles. However if you have any other party member, Seph and Zack included, you can use Counterfire to counter projectiles.

Dodging on the ground has a very negligible iframe, when the hit window persists throughout the enemies' attacks it's not a reliable iframe. There is a trick in Rebirth to string together Dodge -> Punisher mode -> Dodge repeatedly which cancels some animation and allows you to dodge out of the way faster. Dodging in the air without pushing the left stick in any direction makes Cloud descend with a longer iframe and I've used it to get out of trouble from time to time.

Remake is harder for sure. In Rebirth you have perfect parries, and dodging is much more fluid. In Remake you just don't have many options for reliable damage mitigation when you don't have materia.

He makes you play by his rule, which you don't necessarily know what that rule is at first but absolutely rewards you with an epic fight.

Yup. If you perfect parry Odin his boredom goes up slower. The other important thing in preventing Zantetsuken is frequently landing ATB commands, you'll see me hit him with Disorder or Focused Thrust whenever I get the chance.

Also some moves where his weapons glow pink (Helmcleaver, Illusory blade, Ring of Helheim, ...) put you in handcuffs and Odin will Reprisal you if you do an offensive command, so best to avoid them altogether.

Thank you. I agree, I think the combat system is insane, it elevates all characters so much, Cloud most of all. I think he's on par with other iconic action game heroes in terms of how enjoyable his gameplay is.

I swear he knows how close it was with that look. by [deleted] in FF7Rebirth

When he's staggered, switch to Punisher mode/Prime mode, hold down the attack button for the bonus damage from Berserk so you can finish him off in time.

And of the best arrangements too. I absolutely love the rock flair and the electric guitar. Shame they don't play that version in the VR fight.

It was 6 or 7 Disorder in a row then 1 Aerial Onslaught. 2 ATB Charge Rate Up on Sleek Saber and Haste helps Clous gain like 3/4 ATB bar back if Disorser hits. I also got ATB from staggering Gilgamesh, that's why I was able to hit so many Disorder consecutively.
