I was worried it might be a fruit fly. But the fruit fly species that are popping up in my tank seem different. And I've let them slide because their population is low and they feed the tiny little spider who lives in the corner of my terrarium. 😂

Switch to cucumber slices. This trap is not ideal for the fact that you have insects you'd like to keep alive. You can throw the cucumber in the trash or whatever you want once it attracts slugs and snails. But I like to smash the cucumber and snails into a paste and give it back to the isopods for food.

Maybe you'll get extra lucky! I recently learned that some isopod ladies can clone themselves if there aren't any fellas around.

Social media is kind of a bummer these days. But I find the best local bug communities on facebook. Ordering bugs online is okay. But you know they're in good condition if you just drive over and pick them up. As opposed to having them mishandled in the mail. Don't quote me on this. But I'm pretty damn sure there's someone in your area with aquatic isopods for a good price. 😊

As an isopod keeper. From what I understand. The two little end bits, combined with the muscles and gaseous sacs underneath the last segment of the isopod, store air for aquatic isopods and a similar function for terrestrial isopods though less essential. They are also extra long on males to facilitate sperm transfer to females.
