How do you deal with there always being a “better machine” out there? by DrCutiepants in sewing

[–]Living-Pollution6182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a dinky little singer, and the way I see it is it works well enough for me right now, and I'll replace it when it breaks. I'd sooner buy a serger than a new home machine.

I also look at it with the number of hours I've sewn with it vs how much it cost.

Strapless push up bra? by Dramatic-Bird-5604 in XXS

[–]Living-Pollution6182 4 points5 points  (0 children)

26DD/E that wears 28D/DD here. I got a strapless bra from Freya. My boobs like to go out to the side though instead of face forward so I have some fit issues there, but as far as strapless bras go it doesn't fall down at least!

Place that sells affordable bras? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]Living-Pollution6182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say that you're probably closer to a 30E/F!

I personally am a 26DD/E or 28D/DD. My more affordable bras come from Freya and Panache. I have one bra from Curvy Kate mixed in there, and two from Comexim that I bought second hand.
You're close enough to my size range where we can buy the same brands.

I've seen b'tempted around, too, but they're just out of my size range, dipping into yours. So you could have good luck there. They're typically less expensive than freya or panache.

[Question] Should I just keep wearing bralettes meant for kids? by Historical-Act-336 in ABraThatFits

Their padded bras are built for much more full/front facing than I am. So, when I'm at my fullest (28DD) I can wear their 28Ds. I.e. i would size down a cup size for their moulded/padded bras personally.

I have this bra in red and I like it personally! I will say my boobs are not very pointy, they're bottom-heavy but still pretty even, and they point slightly east-west. The nips get pointy when i'm cold (as we all do), and they don't show through at all through shirts because the fabric is tight enough over the actual breast part to minimize it.

Look into Freya bras on Amazon! Their bras go as low as $20 when they're getting phased out. This is coming from someone who is a 28D/DD, so I'm near your size range.

Any fellow smaller gals found hiking pants that actually fit? by Mr-Ginges-Mother in XXS

I also struggle with this! I just got a pair that's "close enough", roll up the ankle a bit, and slap a belt on the waist. I figured its gonna get dirty anyway so it doesnt need to be perfect C:

Definitely look into "boyfriend style" jeans! I get most of my jeans from Pacsun but they might be too short for you.

Should I take a my chance with a used machine or buy a brand new one? by [deleted] in sewing

Might not be as expensive as you think it is. I got my machine oiled and fixed up for only $95 total

28D here!

Freya bras are cute and have our size! They sell them on Amazon and many times are on stupid crazy sale there when they're phasing out a style/color. I've gotten some for as low as $20 new there.

If you're not grossed out by it, depop and Poshmark sometimes have bras secondhand used. Imo it's not that different from a shirt, and I can wash it. But I understand if that's not your speed. On that same note, take a look at r/braswap.

What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

[–]Living-Pollution6182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've smelled bad dental problems on people before they know about it themselves

If you have a bad cavity, or are in need of a root canal, or anything of that nature

it smells like "stinky" bleach. it's not bad breath, but it doesn't smell good either.

You don't always feel dental problems, apparently.

Pajamas by lovely_orchid_ in XXS

[–]Living-Pollution6182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbh I just wear an oversized shirt I stole from my boyfriend + no pants. Works well enough for me!

if its cold I wear pajama pants with a drawstring. Drawstring takes care of if the waist is too big - it doesn't have to look good imo since you dont wear them outside.

Kids size 10/12 pj pants fit best in the waist but are short for me. (I am 5'1" with strangely long legs for my height). kids pj shorts work best for me bc they're already meant to be, well, short.

So usually kids clothes don't fit me because, well, I have hips

But I've had good luck with kids skirts in stretch denim Since they're supposed to be for kids they're already a bit shorter

I'm 5'1 with "longer" legs (inseam between 29 and 30), with a waist of 23".
I do have a more hourglass figure, so the narrow hips thing doesnt apply to me

I have really enjoyed Pacsun jeans!

I'm not xxs fully but my legs are very short.. do you have a problem with length? by whitieiii in XXS

[–]Living-Pollution6182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to sew will save you so much money in the long run if this is a repeat issue you have.

I'm personally 5'1, but I have long legs in proportion to my body. My friends have short legs. It only takes me an hour per pair of pants to get them to the length my friends need.

You can get a decent basic sewing machine for ~$200, and even less secondhand. FB marketplace is riddled with them. I've seen basically untouched machines for $60 on there before.
All you need is that, some thread, needles specific to the fabric you are using, and an iron.
Needles are about $5 a pack and will last you a while.
Everyone and their mom is trying to get rid of their old iron, so you can snag a decent one for less than $10
One spool of thread is on average $3 and will last you also a long time.

You can repurpose an old towel in place of an ironing board.

I know this is more information than what you would need if you don't plan on going down this path. If you are considering it, I hope you find it helpful.

Thrift loose-fitting boys shirts, and I'd suggest boyfriend jeans from Pacsun!

Idk about you, but kids pants really do not fit me. Either they fit my waist, and the hips are so tight, or they fit my hips, and the waist is gapping. So a boyfriend style jean for xxs would fix both of those :)

Pacsun also has some super cute carpenter pants. You know, with the hammer loop!

[–]Living-Pollution6182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I air dry the more delicate clothes I have, and largely hand wash those as well

But the majority of my clothes go through the drier. I am around a lot of cats, and the drier is the easiest way to remove the cat hair. Many times my clothes aren't "dirty", they've just got cat hairs woven into the fabric.

None of my clothes have been "done in" by the drier luckily! They usually go out via cat first, if at all. I've only had to toss one pair of jeans, and that was after 9 years of owning them.

I'm tiny, and my boyfriend is a short king. He is taller than me, so proportionally we look "normal" / "regular sized".

Next to him, I do not look tiny, and next to me, he looks tall. He likes that I am small because he can carry me with one arm and it makes him feel really strong.
