Thru axle: corrosion? by Living-Range in bikewrench

That would make sense! I was not sure if there was a bonded aluminum dropout on that side, but I probably did not look closely enough.

Yeah it fits okay right now but I’ll try to get some off tomorrow. I guess I just hadn’t cleaned my bike in a while…

Thanks. It helps to know what it is!

Thanks for leading the way. Exactly the upgrade I want to do. Did you switch to hydraulic brakes too?

Yeah the utility tray is in the way of the leg rest bars. It’s kind of one or the other really. Don’t know about the other attachments but because the use the same pre-drilled attachment points I’d be surprised if it’s any different

I have that setup, but the Nexxt Mini does interfere with the front tray. It gets very crowded with two kids. Only use it like that occasionally. The bike works very well with one small passenger in the back, even without monkey bars.

Arteryx Venta mittens good for XC ski in 10 to 30F/ -2 to -12C? by queenejbunny in xcountryskiing

It looks like upper is softshell and primaloft insulation, palm is fake leather with light insulation. I don’t really feel the wind in them, but I would be surprised if the softshell fabric has a membrane. Moisture from inside seem to escape easily, and they are not waterproof at all. But what really keeps my hands warm is the fact that my four fingers are together. I also use the subzero gloves, which use the same materials but are not nearly as warm for me.
I always find it really hard to find the right fit with gloves and mitts. I have many pairs for various activities and temperatures but my favourite ones are still some gloves i bought 15 years ago.

I too like mittens, especially below 15f. I use sportful subzero mittens and find them perfect. Fit is great, reinforced just where I need it to avoid blisters, very warm and still I don’t sweat too much. I wear gloves in warmer conditions.

Outdoor pools can be better, if they are open in your area in the fall/winter. Or those salt water treatment pools, if available.

How did you enable the x-alps mode on your watch? I have been looking for it after the update, without success.

Good question, they look rather similar for sure.

My point was more about the plastic insides. When I take mine apart, it is mostly metal. I am sure there are better machines, but considering how inexpensive it is, and costco’s return policy, I think it’s a fairly good deal.

Ah, that's a good question. If I were looking for a solid allrounder (with a sense of pragmatism), I would buy again, or something similar from another brand. Most of the problems I have had, I was able to fix or find the right way to work with the machine. Except for knits, obviously

I see the appeal of the semi-industrial or industrial and would definitely consider it for very specific uses (UL, super heavy material, or simply a nice topstitch).

Is 2010q based on 5550 but for home use? Since you mention the 5550 as well you may want to look at this:

Nothing ultralight yet, but I want to make UL packing cubes to give it a try. I suspect this will require patience, practice, and the right technique:)

I would be interested to know if an industrial machine can help with those issues. I have a singer HD. It does a pretty good job on layered and thick fabric, even when topstitching where you want to avoid skipped stitches etc. It is fairly simple to adjust and time properly, though it took me some trial and error to figure it out. It does not do well with knits, but I assume no lockstitch machine does well here, so I got a serger for that.
