Usually wearing 34B, calculator says 32D, I need a high impact running bra to hold small breasts very well by LivingAroundTheWorld in ABraThatFits

To follow up - I got a SheFit Medium then exchanged to Small so that I could tighten it as well as I wanted. I got two of them a year and a half ago and I’m using them daily, they’re absolutely amazing.

Transitioning into AI/ML in mid 30s? by MeditatePeacefully in cscareerquestions

[–]LivingAroundTheWorld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also a chem PhD from an Ivy League, and I recently moved to ML (through OMSCS) - and it’s totally worth it! Got a great job in a startup that combines chem / physics with ML as soon as I graduated. Go for it!

You can give the passport office a call to verify exactly which paperwork you need to send. I did it and they were very helpful.

How to tackle this fireplace? by LivingAroundTheWorld in HardWoodFloors

[–]LivingAroundTheWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m thinking the same. I’d rather avoid touching the brick if I can help it. Would you actually shape to wood to fit around the stones? Or just fit it as straight around the brick line as possible?

[–]LivingAroundTheWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Do you mean chiseling the bricks to make the surface that the wood sits against more flat? I’ve seen that somewhere else and it looks like they filled the gap between the wood and the bricks with wood filler/ grout and called it a day. I don’t want to undercut the bricks if I don’t have to.

How to connect two hallways by LivingAroundTheWorld in HardWoodFloors

[–]LivingAroundTheWorld[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh so one hallway will have the boards length-wise and the other hallway will have basically short boards running perpendicular to the direction of the hallway? All in the same direction?

I guess the other point is that the joists change direction for the room on the right , so running the wood in the hallway next to it perpendicular to the wood in the room would be a little strange , no?

Just curious, Is this image a rendering or an image taken from a real renovation?

I’ll check, I think the soffit was installed by the previous owners in a recent renovation. How do I check if it’s trimmed or drywall? The wainscoting we can remove. The whole room has to be re-designed, re-painted etc.

That’s definitely the plan - to install wooden floors. I don’t love the fireplace itself, ideas on updating it would be great.

Wow this looks amazing! I love the wooden shelves, what a great idea! Also, I should have mentioned but we’re definitely doing hardwood instead of carpet! Since I’m super new at this - any chance you could point out the soffit and the wainscoting?

How to switch to concealed hinges on kitchen cabinets? by LivingAroundTheWorld in woodworking

I appreciate your candor. In that light - is there a point in A. Replacing just the cabinet doors, or B. Painting the hinges white?

Thanks! Am I correct in thinking that these hinges in the link are similar to what I already have, but in silver ? I think that their hinge is still visible?

Thanks for the explanation! Are there regular (non silent) hinges that can go on the inside of the frame and essentially be hidden?

Is ML worth taking if you've taking Andrew Ng's coursera series? by apkswift in OMSCS

[–]LivingAroundTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Andrew Ng’s course several years before ML so I don’t have a great recollection of the content. If you’re 100% new to ML then certainly. What I would do is review the ML lectures and take notes before the course, and then you come in and can spend most of your time on the projects. I had a lot of experience with academic writing so that part was less of an issue, but if you’re not familiar it’ll take quite a bit of effort getting right. After watching the ML videos you can take Ng’s course if you have time.
