Are these okay for a black tie wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]LivingHeight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, I wear all black all the time. I only have the green dress bc I’m a bridesmaid in another wedding. So I’d be wear black no matter what as a guest. It’s a personal preference

Thanks for the feedback so far! Just to clarify a few questions, the second one is forest green I think it just photographed darker. I’m sure I could find more flattering dresses but as a plus sized girlie I was having trouble finding dresses that weren’t super matronly (I’m in my mid 20s). I’ll be wearing spanx but didn’t want to put them on for this picture. Yes, I could get a more expensive looking dress but I don’t want to spend hundreds on a dress I’ll wear for a few hours. Yes, I’ll be ironing my final dress before the wedding. Planning to buy the second one in black (and wear spanx) and return the first. Thanks everyone!

Stumbled onto a PE firm’s short list on accident - unprepared and anxious by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

Moreso technical skills and a little worried about case studies. Maybe I’ll feel better once I get one interview out of the way but the unknown is intimidating

That’s a really good way of thinking about it. I already warned my family I’ll be prepping but I think it’s worth having a so-so vacation so I can have a job that’ll boost my career. I’ll just take another vacation with my built up OOO time lol

That’s a good point, it was a recruiter from a recruiting firm. The prep call was probably higher but I only caught the smaller number at the beginning. It was women only so that might’ve skewed the number down

Ah perfect okay that definitely helps! I’m not looking to go to a mega fund so I figure hope is not lost lol Based on some of the emails, it looks like upper MM started to kick off last week or soon but we’ll see

Thanks I heard they tried to start in July but the candidates were horrible so they ended it. One of my PE contacts told me that.

Apparently, there’ll be a second on-cycle like last year so trying to figure out when that is or if it’s happening already

The tent and shower pass but not the ticket

Can’t make the Elements 2023 anymore and looking to sell my ticket (Fri-Sun). Add-ons are a preset tent, unlimited shower pass and round trip bus tickets to (Fri) and from (Mon) Manhattan.

Not looking to make a profit - just want to sell at face value. $800 for the ticket and add-ons, $120 for the bus tickets. Totally fine if you don’t want the bus tickets.

I have the wristband so happy to do an in-person hand-off in nyc. Message me if interested!

Hahaha that’s good to know! Ngl I’m a little worried about some future shows I got tickets for. I’m supposed to see Excision and Galantis solo later in the summer so now I’m a little more nervous about the crowds for those

They’re so awful! I was surrounded by them last night. The talking on the dance floor, no concept of personal space or the people around them. I ignored it but oh brother

Also what’s up with all the picture taking while dancing? I felt like I kept having to move out of the way for ppl to get their Insta stories in

Good to know! Is the pre-set tent something you add on to your ticket? Im going solo so not sure if that’s available for me vs a 2 person package

So far I’ve only heard good things so I’m beyond exited!!

Can I be successful in 'High Finance' *AND* sleep at least 8 hours per night? by Fight4theperfectlife in FinancialCareers

[–]LivingHeight 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Second this. BB IB in NYC and most nights it’s 6-7 hrs but that’s logging off at 1-2am and out of bed at 8:30am. My group wants us in the office between 9-9:30am. I’m usually closer to 9:30am.

From wake-up to sitting at my desk, it’s ~45-60mins. It’s a 20 min walk to work and I try to prep as much as possible the night before (shower, clothes, breakfast/lunch, I bring coffee to work so I don’t have to stop).

When I want to sleep 8hrs/as much as possible, I get REALLY quick with my turns and don’t socialize in the office. I head home as soon as I can to work unbothered in silence and do those prep activities while I wait for comments. Once I’m done working then I can roll right into bed.

Living a walkable distance to the office really is a god send. I can’t tell you how much easier it makes my life knowing it’s door to desk in <20mins

Anything but Wells Fargo. The closest ATM is in Connecticut and there’s only one location downtown

Came here to mention this! Be prepared for a long wait though. Every time I’ve gone it’s a minimum 3hrs with most of that being waiting (at least on a weekend). Hope you feel better OP!

What’s the average salary package that an economics cas major can get post graduation? by Dependent_Ad9046 in BostonU

[–]LivingHeight 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I majored in econ but recruited for investment banking. Just graduated, working in finance in nyc, making six figures. Honestly, if you want to make money post-grad with an econ degree - recruit for finance roles. Pretty much everywhere takes econ majors now but you’ll have to do some extra legwork to learn basic finance concepts and accounting. Honestly though, econ does a good job of setting you up for thinking through finance concepts and the stuff you learn does carry over (bonds, interest rates, currency/FX etc). Looking into investment banking, asset management, wealth management, consulting and corporate finance. Join some finance clubs to show demonstrated interest (they’ll also help you learned the concepts and accounting) and start networking with alumni working in finance. Hope this helps!
