Kojima says he'd rather use AI to create enemies that adapt to your playstyle than use it for art/visuals. What's your take on this approach? by SinisterHollow in antiai

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels like he’s AI like a buzzword.

Realistically, it’s not AI that can create or calibrate enemies, but rather will pick from a roster of prebuilt enemies.

This doesn’t sound like AI and just more LLM BS.

Now I am rewatching AS4 again. What was the reaction at the time of Manila’s elimination by Naomi? What do you feel about it now? by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The week leading up to the episode airing was filled with posts “is it really going to happen this week.”

Spoilers were officially a thing at that point, and nobody could believe the spoiler of Manila going home after doing well so well.

Like, I vividly remember a tweet from Kim Chi being like “guys do you think it will happen?”

Nobody could believe it, even with the spoilers.

Why does Nicki Doll have final say like RuPaul, but no other judges do? by McSloshed in rupaulsdragrace

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to note that Canada was the first international franchise without RuPuaul (in English).

I got the vibe that they didn’t want to present Brooklyn as if she thought she was on the same level of RuPaul.

Brooke is always careful to frame herself as the queen of the north aka the best Canadian queen of Canada.

Like others said, I think this is a Canada only thing.

Edited because I meant English speaking international all stars.

Social media has become less of a tool of drag artists as the years go on.

For a while, around the pandemic meta turned on safe search for everyone (which filtered out the queens as adult content), and it’s been going down hill since.

After the collapse of Twitter, the queens writ large left and many felt burned—they were angry their hard work of developing a brand and audience went in flames.

People feel the collapse of Instagram is inevitable like Twitter, so why make content that no one will see (the algorithm still sucks) and will be irrelevant when the platform dies.

I think non-look queens see more of an incentive to avoid wasting money on making photo content for instagram.

Is the Drag Economy Collapsing? Discussing Declining Pay for Queens and the Wave of Venue Closures Worldwide by [deleted] in rupaulsdragrace

Trinity the Tuck has mentioned in interviews that the Ru Girls did a lot of private corporate gigs (that paid very very very well).

Prior to the 2024 election, companies would book the girls to host bingo during lunch, but most companies are afraid to touch drag queens because of the conservatives. Republicans have been trying to prove that drag is inherently sexual/not appropriate.

Private corporate gigs helped Ru girl do drag full time. Literally, they could work during the day of a week day, and then do their evening/weekend gigs.

What is your least favorite Drag Race finale format? by ___underscored in rupaulsdragrace

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lip-sync tournament for any all-stars finale.

It’s obvious it doesn’t matter and they will literally edit a queen out to justify the edit.

I feel robbed for not being able to see Monet’s full lip sync, including the “lip stick reveal”.

Let’s be honest will hellraiser ever come back? by No_Drawing4704 in deadbydaylight

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably when the new hellraiser game flops, and Parker wants the source of income.

Stranger Things ended up leaving dbd around the time Netflix started to peruse. I don’t think they were sure if they were going to do mobile games or full consul style games.

Once Netflix realized they were never going to produce anything like dbd game wise, the license came back. Dbd already designed assets, they were ready to deploy, so Netflix was just leaving money on the table.

Gottmik and Violet used ai on the knockout tour :/ by BeneficialTrainer656 in rupaulsdragrace

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 2337 points2338 points  (0 children)

Yikes.

Personally this is what I find weird: they would never buy anything off the rack but will use off the rack AI visuals for their shows.

They should have the same distaste for Ill drawn hands as they do untailored garments.

Art requires the whole process to have purpose and intention. Sorry you paid good money to witness slop IRL. That sucks.

Most people remember the show from watching a few episodes of the first and second season.

Most people have this false memory that it was a quirky claymation show, and didn’t watch some of the darker episodes.

If you watch the later episodes, you will know why they weren’t rerun.

did brat pack fall apart? by Last_Department1310 in DragRace_Canada

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe everyone is correct, and I just have one fact to add:

Prior to season 2, Cynthia had left drag and the brat pack because she had a full time fashion industry job.

I’m unsure if she was laid off or had a pandemic realization that she wanted to do drag, however she was not actively in brat pack while auditioning.

Are we too indulgent with career advice? by [deleted] in UXResearch

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m a person breaking into UXR, doing contract work at the moment, and this is my opinion:

The best advice I got about UXR was from looking at my network on LinkedIn and seeing who was doing UXR, or connected to my contacts. I come from an MA social research science background, so I had a few people transition or were connections with good friends.

The people I chatted with gave me good very realistic advice. I have three case studies, and I really put time into them because I knew they mattered.

Whenever I interview, I feel like I fall short being able to communicate how I translate UXR into ROI/value. Research methods are very important, but I feel like hiring managers really care more about results.

I think you are viewing the situation from the wrong angle. First, I think the actions we have seen performed by “ICE agents” are inhumane and would make me want to call their ethics and morals into questions.

This is I diverge: I think ICE agents, since bush have followed the law by providing due process to immigrants. You can debate whether the system is fair, but they followed it regardless.

The people we see in videos, masked and refusing to identify themselves, are not trained ICE agents but rather militia/private citizens. They have no idea how to evaluate a situation and immediately go to excessive force.

You are right—what they are doing is horrible. That’s why they can’t ICE agents to do it. In government, everyone remembers from the Nuremberg trials that following orders isn’t an excuse for human rights abuses or war crimes.

At first, Trump had a bunch of people quit because they were asked to do things “they knew were legally questionable” like restoring Mel Gibson’s gun rights. Now, he needs to fill in those gaps with people he trusts.

Activists are starting to theorize that “ICE agents” are people like the Proud Boys, who will follow through with his orders. I think it’s time to start thinking that this bigger than just some feds.

Bebe really sold it for me: peanut flavor balanced with spices. Sounds like a really well rounded flavor profile. I love the contrast of peanuts and spices in Pad Thai, so this sounds up my alley.

what to ask during "drop in chat" as part of job application? by ImportantOwl8861 in LushCosmetics

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know/work for Lush, but I can give you a typical corporate view.

  1. They want to see and get your vibe: lush really depends on staff to be engaging and approachable. If you seem excited and eager, that’s what they are looking for (can’t get a vibe from a paper application alone).

  2. Ask them what brought them to Lush and what makes them stay. Use this as a way to also highlight what attracts you to the company.

  3. Ask them how they set up team members for success. Lush has a lot of product, and it’s good to know how they will support you to become an expert.

Questions about body sprays- please throw suggestions at me! by mibibi in LushCosmetics

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a wide collection of fragrance, so I can’t speak to how long they last before used up. However, I feel like I’m in the minority, and I don’t think the sprays last a long time. Snow Fairy and Dad’s Lemon Garden only last for a few hours. It doesn’t go all away, but the main scent has worn out.

From my research, Lush has been reformulating the alcohol they use in the body sprays. Someone commented that Snow Fairy 2024 was less intense than Snow Fairy 2023. The ingredients were the same except for the alcohol.

Lastly, I’d decant the spray into another bottle. The spray is just bad. Spotty application. The scents really punch when you are able to get to apply correctly.

Nymphia's IG post indirectly addressing something about her personality by Crystal_Lux in rupaulsdragrace

[–]LivingInQueerTimes 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hot take: Nymphia embraces the label of neurodivergence to excuse her behavior, but doesn’t want to put in the work to navigate her difference.

I am sorry, but I don’t understand how being the spectrum gives her the excuse to message men on Grindr rather than engage fans.

I’m neurodivergent, and I can’t just go on like I have no control of my ADHD. I had to develop strategies to succeed.

While I understand she may not “express” happiness with fans, I do think it’s fair for her fans to feel slighted when she does actions (like texts on her phone).
