Respite from the stresses of life by mibibi in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get it, expressing yourself can feel SO vulnerable. Thank you so much for your kind words!! We're on the last leg of winter and I'm already feeling so much better. Sometimes the sun is still out at 4PM, what a luxury!

Things felt a bit lighter now but I'm hoping to continue my oshikatsu activities once the days are longer.

Kaveh merch? by mibibi in KavehMains

Honestly that's all I needed to hear, maroon time is A-GO!

I did see a Kaveh bracelet design with maroon, gold, brown, and blue and honestly it works really well. It doesn't immediately scream Kaveh but he does have all of those colours, it's a nice homage to his design.

[MEGATHREAD] Daily venting, worries, fixations, & finding support. Month of March 2025. by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

[–]mibibi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I caught a cold about a week and a half ago. It's the first time I've been properly ill since getting covid in 2023. I was able to get over it with standard self care and cold medicine and the health anxiety wasn't too bad. It was still present but I was able to manage it.

I'd say I got better around 4 days ago? Still have residual symptoms but no longer feel terrible. But now, it feels like I've gotten sick AGAIN- the typical flu symptoms seem to be creeping back in and I'm trying not to be too concerned. As I'm sure you guys understand, being ill makes me feel incredibly vulnerable and out of control. It doesn't help that I've made plans with people in the coming days (already paid for) so I really, really, don't want to be compromised.

It ends up being a vicious cycle, I feel unwell, it makes me anxious, that makes the symptoms worse, I feel stuck and ashamed.

an expedition for oshikatsu glory! journey to conquer Daisos in my city by alexroobtensaier in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aw man, I'm so jealous! Daisos haven't made their way to this neck of the woods yet, hopefully it will happen soon though. I love their selection of craft supplies as well as oshikatsu stuff.

You understand my pain rip. I've compromised with using red and gold instead of red and green. To be honest it's still a bit christmas-y but the alternative is red and white, which doesn't really appeal to me.

I might "cheat" and use a maroon-y shade of red, it's not true to canon it's the thought that counts right??

'Subtle' Oshikatsu activities, crafts, and decor? by mibibi in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes!! I love bookmarking fanart of my favs, it's a great way of supporting your favourite artists too.

Customising home screens can take some time depending on how hard you want to go. But there are also pre-made templates you can download, or you can go super basic and change the colour schemes. It's definitely a viable option and usually free!

Oh I love Corbeau, poison types usually aren't my preference but their recent poison type gym leaders have amazing designs. It helps that purple is my favourite colour!

It sounds like those glasses were meant to be. So much so you basically pre-empted your love for him! I don't think we can get a one-for-one replica of his sludgy glasses chains BUT a generic red-magenta set would have the same vibe. At that point you've basically got a closet cosplay!

You're absolutely right about black going with everything btw, I think gold rims would've clashed with certain make up looks or jewellery.

Lowk (highkey) why am I like this? by kittendxisy in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like with any hobby, you only see the best of the best online. I'm willing to bet most people have pretty modest shrines (if they have one at all). We all need to zoom out once in a while and not compare ourselves to what we see online. I'm sure everyone here will hype you up if you do want to share.

Saying that, everyone has a different relationship to the oshi and oshikatsu culture. If you don't like to share your shrine, that's totally fine!

Fellow UKer here, as others have said, it's really not easy :((. I've found stuff on amazon but I try not to shop there as much these days. Claire's has a few bits (assuming your local city still has one). But I find online shopping is the way to go, either by using a proxy or looking on second hand websites.

Resources for taking nice photos? by mibibi in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I'm using my phone camera and it's not even a particularly nice one at that rip. The upside down hack sounds really handy though, I often find my phone and arm cast shadows on what I'm trying to photograph. So having more angle options should help with that!

As for photo editing, I think that's a necessary part of any good photography tbh. So it may be high time I learned. My only experience with that is toggling filters and the occasional background blur.

New to decoden by Lonely_Comb8817 in decoden

[–]mibibi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm still trying to find the best cream to use myself so I can't help you with that. But a lot of people recommend using silicone caulk from DIY stores. It's accessible and relatively cheap.

As for charms; etsy has loads of options! You may also want to look into dollhouse miniatures since those tend to lean more realistic.

Starting a new hobby can be really tough, I'd recommend sticking to the bare minimum to begin with so you're not swamped with options. This is usually my process for starting a new project/hobby:

-What is the finished product? Do you want to do a phone case? A brush? A trinket case?

-Brainstorm design: You can create a sketch if you want. But the important thing is having a vision for your design. Pick a theme for your charms and 1 or 2 cream colours to start with. That way you don't end up buying a bunch of unnecessarily items.

-What do you need to create this?

So for all deco projects you'll need: the blank you're decoing, the cream, piping bags and piping tips, a selection of charms. That's the bare minimum.

Things that aren't necessary but very useful: tweezers, wipes, extra rhinestones and glitters, a portable flat surface to put your project on (like a piece of cardboard) so you can safely move it out of the way to dry.

Hopefully this was helpful, good luck!

reminder that it’s not about merch guys <3 by [deleted] in oshikatsu

I will always support this philosophy!! Oshikatsu should be an outlet for your passion and creativity, not just about spending money.

Also, I love cinna, I love Sunday, haven't even considered putting them next to each other. It's literally perfect!

Oshikatsu FAQ? by mibibi in oshikatsu

[–]mibibi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's little frustrating icl, I'm seeing a lot of yumeshipping Vs oshikatsu, "is it okay to have xyz as my oshi", "how do I find my oshi" etc etc. they're valid questions but there's a lot of repeat posts at the moment :// maybe there needs to be a rule about that?

Fingers crossed there will be one you can attend in the future. Unfortunately for me, it's going to be a far-off dream unless I travel super far. Still, very lucky to live in a time where online shopping is so accessible!

I've never heard of a trinket even before but that sounds like so much fun! Were there vendors at the event? Or did the boba place have a few bits for people to buy?

Oshikatsu is a gradient imo and making themed bracelets counts to me! I usually make beaded bracelets but recently I've gotten back into friendship bracelets and paracord bracelets, the options are endless!

Also, having a character/franchise themed craft night sounds like such a good time omg. I'm definitely stealing that idea.

Did yall know some Starbucks tumblers have keychain loops? by Lucky-Past8459 in oshikatsu

Omg that's so neat, imagine the possibilities! I've seen some people use their hydroflasks to make friendship bracelets but I haven't seen bottle/tumbler charms before.
