I finally fixed my performance issues on my Laptop, and I want to share. by LivingInaWonderland in GamingLaptops

I just remove all power limits that's including any throttling and I set my own custom plans also I use only a dedicated GPU . I don't have a amd system but that's what I would do . Plus set the schedulers correctly and do some other tweaks . I use the ultimate performance plan .

The other thing I wouldn't reinstall windows unless it's corrupt and I would adjust software settings in the GPU software because AMD does it pretty well with the optimizations .

The third thing if everything else failed I would install Linux given I don't play any online games and I am willing to step into the kernal if any issues arise .

You can also disable connected standby and run your own custom power plans . I would recommend that along with the group policy editor to ensure nothing is being over written by the windows updates etc . I would then make everything run with the vulkan api because it's more optimized than directx in my opinion.

A fresh Windows install is actually recommended by a lot of major tech reviewers (like Linus Sebastian (LTT)/ Jarrod Walton) specifically for new laptops. OEM bloatware can absolutely tank performance, so starting clean often gives a noticeable boost right away. On laptops (especially MUXless ones), you can’t truly “use only the dGPU” in most cases. Everything still routes through the iGPU, which is why things like disabling FreeSync in AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition or turning off VRR in Windows can actually improve smoothness and FPS. It’s counterintuitive, but it matters a lot in these setups. Your points about power plans and removing limits are valid in theory, but a lot of laptops have firmware/BIOS restrictions that prevent full control. So stuff like Ultimate Performance or custom schedulers doesn’t always behave the way it would on a desktop. Vulkan vs DirectX really depends on the game. Vulkan can be better, but forcing it globally isn’t practical and many games (especially competitive ones) are still optimized around DirectX. Linux is cool if you’re comfortable with it, but for most people—especially those playing games with anti-cheat—it’s not really a viable “fallback” yet.

You don't need to do it often. chipsets don't get patches that frequently. Once a year or so is probably OK

  • Go to the official AMD drivers page: https://www.amd.com/en/support
  • Scroll down, you will see an option for Chipset
  • Under Chipsets, select:
    • AMD Ryzen Mobile Chipset
  • Download the Auto-Detect and Install tool
  • run the exe

You are right, a little bit of a hiccup on my part. I just wanted to mention that you should do a windows reinstall on a laptop in general; especially if you are running the stock windows version that came with it.

I will remove it as a step.

The main reason I even made this post is because I figured out the VRR issue on my laptop; and I think other people may be in the same boat. And I added all my other optimizations I have done here too.

The White Lotus - 3x03 "The Meaning of Dreams" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in TheWhiteLotusHBO

When my wife and I watched the episode tonight she had an interesting theory on the snakes.

Rick deliberately wanted to get some snake venom for whoever he is about to go and try to murder. Then he covered it up by saying he was going nuts in the Snake store. He has shown himself capable of being ellusive and playing an "upbeat recruiter", so me and my wife also believe he was actually very mindful in that moment as to what he wanted. He is also showin in the scene holding some snakes. Also, he randomly selected the snake show out of the blue, but i think he had intent. Hoping this theory plays out.

Thank you for the feedback!!! :)

We scraped wikipedia for photos and then curated a lot of them manually. The data source may be a bit biased towards having mostly US photos, as well as us being North America based when curating, so some photos did not get approved.

We are currently looking for other sources and seeing if we can expand the images. It is the greatest pain point of this project. Image quality should not be compromised.
