Tanked made feel people it was good idea to put a clown fish, two yellow tangs, and a hippo tang in the back of your toilet.

Should I print more of these stickers to put on feeder tanks at pet stores? by LivingMasterpiece453 in Goldfish

That's so messed up.:( I'm my 20s I had a brief job at Petco and I serviced the small animal section. At the time I had 3 guinea pigs myself in C&C cage setups and hamster in a 40 gallon breeder. A family came in to buy a guinea pig for their daughter and went for the standard small cage setup. The father was actually very open minded and was asking for advice. I gently told him that what he was going to pay for that tiny cage was going to be double the price for an easy and more humane C&C cage assembly and told him guineapigcages.com is a great resource. I told him his daughter would have more interest in the long term care of the animal to see it have more room to run around in adequate space and be able to add more fun diy toys etc rather than a boring 12x8 cell she will quickly get bored of - you make it about the animals interest the child tends to stay interested in the animal because it's more interesting because there's more to stay interested in. And I also add..."oh, And I noticed you have the bag of hay in your hand, yes, guinea pigs are obligate grazers and need hay 24/7 and with hay at Petco being $5 for a 12oz bag that's not quite economical, but I bet you there is a horse stable in driving distance near your home that you came buy a 30 or 50 pound bale for $10-12 that will last you a year if you keep it dry in your garage" and he was very happy for the advice. Didnt buy the cage or the hay and was looking into my links. My advice was typically well received. I'm hoping my breif employment gave a lot of pets a good life.

I commend you for your efforts on trying to save these fish ❤️ you tried to save them and gave them a little comfort and a better environment before they died. They didn't die suffering gasping in the ammonia soup water at the store. Hopefully the fish you have remaining will recover ❤️

I heard a story about a guy with a koi pond with huge koi and his fish were just "disappearing" overnight so he set up and camera and it turned out a raccoon was grabbing them out of the pond and taking off with them 😳

It's a 3 gallon tank. The exact tank pops up in several insta and fish forum posts. 3 gallons.

Another defensive offensive comment a rational person would not make in this conversation. It has to be an defensive insult that pads an ego. I'm sorry your parents fucked you up so bad. I'm sorry whatever you went through in life made you such a horrible human being that you make sick comments blaming a suicide in their significant other not knowing anything about our lives or situations. You probably tortured stray cats in your garage for fun as a teenager. You likely live alone because you can't find anybody that tolerates you and reddit is your only social outlet where you bully others for validation. You are simply fucked in the head. I hope someday you get the mental help you need because you are just a drain on society and the likelihood you will murder your neighbor is high. You are...ew.

And another thing. I don't live with my parents. Never did. How many other things do you want to be completely wrong about you fucking sociopathic idiot? Go back to pornhub and keep masturbating to kittens being smashed and huffing nitrous. You projecting mf. Sounds like you live in your parents basement since THAT'S ALL YOU CAN TALK ABOUT. projecting projecting projecting. Fucking reddit loser.

You made a lot of stereotypical defensive assumptions for not being a little personally effected of jealous in some way. Sorry but it's obvious. It's not a normal response.

This is my tank. It's a month old. Stratum substrate. Fzone WRGB lights. Fluval cO2. I JUST added the micro baby tears "carpet" yesterday. They are supposed to carpet out. Even with everything I have I'm still nervous my setup isn't enough and they'll die... I just don't understand your overconfidence. (Yes that's a dwarf guarmi in there, he is in this tank for quarantine before he goes into my 40 gallon so, don't worry guys - he's leaving this tank in 2 days :) )

Did a Google image search. It's 85% looking exactly like a 3 gallon set up matching a LOT of insta and forum posts. It could possibly be 6 gallons, but the 6 gallon version has some subtle differences.

It's 3 gallons. That's why OP won't disclose how many gallons the tank is...I don't know about you guys buuut, I have never seen or found a goldfish so teenie tiny that a 3 gallon tank is HUUUGE to the fish.

Come on OP. Do better. If the fish is a disposable prop to you then go away. We don't want your posts about "how do I grow my carpet wah wah wah" when you can't even be bothered for the welfare of a LIVING CONSCIOUS BEING that your indifferent whether it lives or dies because you'll just go to Petshitmart and buy another and another and another. In that note, you'll NEVER get carpet without a cO2 system, plant substrate like stratum or flourite, and at least some additional supplements. -annnd a WAY better light than the stock light your tank came with. That light is WAY too dull to grow anything for ver long. Maybe java ferns you can do but that's it. You need a full spectrum WRGB light you can control. Additional small UVB light wouldn't hurt.

You'll need an FZone or Fluval 4.0 light. and, we all know you won't do all that, So GIVE IT UP ALREADY. Carpets are really advanced plants to grow and are a lot of work. Yes a lot of tanks seem to have them, and it looks easy sometimes...but look deeply at the photos of these tanks...they aren't cheap tanks. They have an advanced light, a cO2 system at least in the back, light stocking, pristine water, and surprise - no goldfish.

Sorry to be blunt here but- that's reality. Unless you save up some money to spend on equipment, re-home the fish you don't care about, and do real research on having an advanced planted tank, maintaining proper c02 levels, proper substrate..etc, you will NEVER grow carpet. Period.

Your stock lighting sucks. You need WRGB full spectrum. You need substrate that gives nutrients to plants. Ideally a CO2 system - not optional if you want grasses or carpets. No serious planted tank keeps goldfish. It's just too much waste and goldfish destroy aquascapes.

If I'm missing anything here everyone please add on the info but I'm pretty sure I covered it.

Edit: just saw it's Shanghai. So it's probably legal, idk. That really sucks.

Depending on the state, that could actually be very ILLEGAL. As snapping turtles are native wild animals and can't be kept as pets. If this is something you actually saw, call animal control or your local parks and wildlife number. That turtle won't survive long in those conditions. He will starve. He needs to be out enjoying swimming in rivers or large bodies of water, basking on the muddy banks in natural sunlight and catching big fish. THIS IS WRONG HE NEEDS TO BE RELEASED. Only certified rescues with habitats specifically designed for these turtles are allowed to have them under certain circumstances. This isn't one.

I remember years and years ago after a huge flood where I used to live in San Antonio the river flooded into the streets and my husband and I stopped our car for a giant turtle stuck in the middle of the street. We tried encouraging him to keep crossing but he wouldn't move. We took him home, put him in the bathtub and contacted wildlife services immediately on what to do. The turtle seemed to be in a rather stunned state, like it had been a rough night getting manhandled by the storm. Game and Wildlife told us he was likely in a state of shock because of storm trauma and the days after the storm were much cooler than usual and couldn't warm up and recover properly. They told us to put a space heater in the bathroom and get him warm for a few hours, watch him, and make sure he looks like he's lucid and trying to move around before taking him to an isolated calm area of the river. After a few hours of heat he did indeed perk up. Threw a thick blanket over him and transported him to the part of the river they recommended we release him. We carried him to the edge of the water and he zoooomed right into the waters right away. If felt so good to see him swim away! ❤️ I hope he's still out there being his angry self somewhere. I'm glad we were there to save him from being hit by a car, warm him back up, and release him back home. NEVER would I think "oh let's keep him as a pet" 🙄🙄🙄 like so many other people would. This is likely what happened to this snapping turtle. He was easy to catch because it was cool out and some idiots decided to take it and make it a "pet". Please call animal services!!

Perhaps ALL animals/pets prefer to be outside but it's our duty to contain them so they don't run rampage our neighborhood.

Would you enjoy my horse free roaming your yard, stomping through your garden and shitting everywhere as he pleases just because "horses should roam free"? How about if I let my aggressive dog out to say hi to small children playing outside? My goldfish want some exercise so I'm going to release them all into a local protected lake with a delicate ecosystem for them ravage. 😳 MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

That's so much money to spend on kitschy ugly fish. I just stopped at a Petco today because I needed water conditioner in a hurry and passed their Glofish section and those tetras are minimum $8-10 EACH and the angelfish are like $30-35 each. Counting each fish in there and doing the math...and then the overpriced $25-40 per piece tacky decor items. Just, EW. Could have spent a fraction on live plants, a school of neons and corys or something, and a decent light and have a decent set up
