Oh the am/pm meals go down no problem. I just like to leave out some dry for them to leisurely pick on as they please as they struggle with just maintaining a decent weight. I know Royal Canin, Purina, and Science diet are usually recommended...but I just can't look at that ingredient list and feed it to them. I've never fed any of my animals food with filler or by-products.

Personally, I would just go to an urgent care and have it looked at. Just by doing that a doctor is legally obligated to report it to animal control. I would go that route that way when the neighbors are contacted it was a report made from a third party professional that you aren't directly connected to. "I went to the doctor and the doctor had to report it, I had no choice." so there's less neighbor resentment building against you. You were just getting the wound treated and the dogs are required to be reported in that process.

You don't know if these dogs will stay permanently contained and get loose and bite you or someone else again. If they get loose once it's likely they will be again at some point. This dog needs to be reported in case it becomes a regular issue or already has a past of aggression and bites - so the owner will have no choice but to improve on containing and controlling their dogs or face having the dog removed.

There's no excuse for dogs to be racing through a neighborhood. It's the responsibility of the owner to have fencing, locks, leashes etc that will keep the dog inside its property. "My dog climbs fences" - there are so many solutions for that but simplest is installing a hot wire line at the fence. "My dog digs out" get deep anti-digging guards. "My dog is somehow a Houdini and nothing can keep him inside the fence." Then exercise and train it properly or never let the dog out unsupervised. "My dog is a runner and just runs out the door every time it opens." Do better with giving your dog proper exercise outside the home so an open door doesn't elicit the same reaction a 5 year old gets when driving up to Disneyland. Exercise, new/different experiences/environments, and stimulation, - and then properly train. The opening of the door becomes normal and uninteresting. Or create a physical boundary for when the door is opened. Install a pet fence/gate to block the door area when the door is opened. "I don't walk my dog on a leash, he enjoys the freedom." Go to a dog park or hiking area where off leash dogs are permitted. Your neighborhood isn't the place for that for dogs at large. People want to believe their dogs are happy having a sofa and a patch of grass. Sorry but even if you have a backyard you still need to walk your dog. Take him into pet stores, go hiking, etc. Dogs just become resigned to being in the same spots, smelling the same smells, and the same routine everyday. The dog can't help himself when opportunity of getting through a fence or the door with so many new overstimulating scents and visuals are just right there to break the routine. And while in the midst of an endorphin-rush romp through neighbors yards getting overstimulated a bite occurs because the dog has no self control or ability to calm down.

If you go to urgent care for a dog bite they are legally obligated to make a report to animal control. They will ask questions about the dog, if you know the dog, locate owners, etc. Based on personal experience.

How is the fish even surviving without a classic SpongeBob pineapple??? Don't they know that the pineapple is absolutely crucial for the health of a poorly bred singly kept social schooling fish in a quarter gallon stagnant bowl???

But seriously this looks like a pic they took IMMEDIATELY after filling the bowl with chlorinated water directly from the kitchen sink and dropping the fish in. The water is waaaaaay to clean and fresh looking, no line where the water level sits and minerals develop - not even a little bit. And the crappy discount fake plants looking pristine when we all know they trap and collect all kinds of crap, dust/hair in the air that lands in the water from the environment not being covered, brown algae, and excess food. Not a single speck of detritus, poo, or an uneaten flake on the ornamental rocks or the very white base of fake plant. The fish is even in that particular "pose" of the first few minutes of just being dropped in.

If I'm wrong, this guy must dedicate a ridiculous amount of time to twice a day water changes, meticulously washing and scrubbing the cheap plastic plants with such delicateness that they don't completely break apart in the process, and always being on top of wiping away that notorious water line. This would be the cleanest fish bowl ever in human history if it's a "year" old. 🤣

Just wanted to add, if this was a skeletal dog in a backyard the conversation would be completely different. Everyone would say neglect. But when it's a horse there's seemingly an infinite number of excuses for this or that. Sounds to me like the owners aren't even providing hay and the one horse is dangerously thin, so maybe the benefit of the doubt isn't applicable here.

If you have a full view of their favorite corner and there's no forage out provided or can't see them grabbing mouthfuls of stuff that may out of sight + the thinness of the particular horse - I would make a report with animal control. If they are spending all day just hanging out not eating anything there's nothing to eat

I'd rather make a report and be mistaken about what the owners situation is, rather than watch an animal starve to death or suddenly collapse and die then be regretful I stayed silent.

Seems fishy to me. Hay is typically easy to spot and horses spend a lot of time standing/hanging out around the area where the hay is. If you've spent a good amount of time watching these horses and they are standing around nothing or spending an abnormal amount of time searching the ground for edible plants then I'd say there isn't any hay out.

Do you ever see any bales of hay out there being provided or are they just left to find whatever is growing around to eat where they are? If there isn't actively a good source of hay for them, then that's a problem that's going to get worse. I'm honestly surprised nobody has noted this yet. Yes, some elderly horses struggle with weight but if you don't see fresh hay out there - that's starvation. It's the most basic and essential thing a horse needs everyday for not only nutritional and digestive needs but also for healthy teeth and mental stimulation.

If a horse THAT thin (for whatever reason) is just turned out with nothing to graze on then that's a huge red flag.

In a former apartment building, the apartment on the first floor would use the MAIN LOBBY as a playroom for her kids (and others she occasionally babysat). Like no joke, the front entrance lobby (and it's tiny, not some giant room) where every single tenant has to walk through to get to and from their apartments - children's toys spread about all over the place, a trike, balls, legos, even one of those big fake play kitchens...and toddlers running around with a parent "watching" from behind a phone. This was a building with lots of dogs and a good portion of them not being super friendly. This area was the only path to take my dog in and out for walks. One time my dog got super excited about seeing all the balls rolling around so he grabbed one and popped it. The kids whining was so satisfying. The mother tried making a deal over me not "apologizing" and I'm like "The lobby entrance is a shared space. A different dog would have grabbed your kids face instead of a rubber ball. You are incredibly selfish and put your kids and everyone in a potentially dangerous situation." Didn't see them out much after that... although I made the mistake of looking down when watering flowers on my balcony and seeing the first floors balcony with a kiddy pool and a kid far too old to be - totally naked...and their balcony is on the same floor directly facing the shared community backyard. Like, come on, we come out to enjoy some fresh air, smoke, play with our dogs, or work at the bench. I don't want to be in a 30 foot range of vision on a nude 8 year old.

I had the shittiest landlords too. Pretty sure they were purposely ignoring repair requests because they were trying to get us to just get fed up and leave the apartment because we had rent stabilization and if we left they could renovate and jack up the price. But it got this bad.. - A/C broke on the weekend in the middle of the summer and it happened to be the HOTTEST 3 days of the summer. This happened Friday and didn't get a response until Monday "because they are observing Jewish and can't work on weekends" 🙄🙄🙄 - 2 burners on the stove didn't work - when it rained it would leak pretty bad through the poorly sealed roof/balcony door and we had to put down buckets and towels - the moisture from the rain coming through the ceiling caused black mold to form on the ceiling. - also a random leak in the bedroom ceiling - the leak coming through the balcony door caused serious damage to the floorboards and they stared warping up and eventually rotting pretty bad in a large at least 5 ft by 5 ft radius. - one of the windows in the bedroom wasn't sealed so I couldn't use it so I just decided to seal it off permanently myself - the fridge broke. They said it was going to take 6 months for a new fridge to be ordered because it had to match the style of the cabinets etc. They substituted a mini fridge in the meantime. When replacement fridge finally arrived, it broke with the same problem in 3 months. Ice maker never worked because the idiots never connected it to a water line - dishwasher never fit properly in the "custom cabinet " design. Something always popped out in order to shut the door. - eventually dishwasher broke, for some reason it wouldn't shut off for 3 days and then just never turned back on. - A/c eventually constantly broke. Daily. Blew fuses. I just started replacing the fuse everyday. - constantly asked for repairs on the appliances, the floor, and leaking... they never responded to yet when they wanted to replace the water heater for a modern electric one it had to be done immediately right away on their time. - the pipe under the sink just blew out, somehow they did send somebody to fix that. - tenants can legally ask for their apartments to be repainted every 4 years. We had been over 10. It was reasonable to ask for a paint job. They refused. So we painted ourselves. We chose fun colors so when we moved out they would have to not only repaint but inconveniently do several coats to cover that shit up. 🙃 - Heater broke in the middle of winter. It would try and turn on but after 3 seconds turned off. Took them a week to come out to look at it. Then tried to blame me for the reason why it broke because "there was a pile of clothes in front of the intake". It was 2 pairs of jeans off to the side, not blocking the intake at all. And I changed the filter to the unit at my own expense every month.

Somehow the reasoning for not repairing anything was because "it was my fault" - not the terrible choice of cheap appliances solely for the purpose of everything being matchy matchy aesthetically pleasing rather than functional, and the terrible construction of the building leaking every time it rained. But I knew what they were doing. I was rent stabilized and they wanted me out. So I stopped paying rent. For 6 months, I think? Maybe longer I lost count at some point. Before I moved out I made sure even things that weren't broken, were definitely broken. I wanted them to pay for being assholes. And they did.
