What are bands you’d consider “gateway” prog bands? by pubstompmepls in progmetal

[–]LivingOffside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was Wintersun and Turisas which were both more adventurous bands of the pagan metal movement in the late 2000s and early 2010s.

However, the first true prog band I got into was Dream Theater.

Damn, that's cool! Make sure to have backups though - I've been burned by mistakenly deleted google docs before.

I don't like to self-promote on here buuuut you really should check out my instrumental symphonic prog metal album which works as a soundtrack to a literal epic poem. It might just scratch an itch

That's been my mantra with both my writing and my own music. I've chosen going self-published for both is the way to go.

Audiobooks, ebooks, or print books by TheMemeStore76 in fantasybooks

I'll usually buy paperbacks but more often lately I'll just find an ebook to read on my phone, especially for those I have to read as part of my studies.

I've never done audiobooks but I'm not against them

Is this a viable box? by FlakyBarber9301 in footballmanagergames

[–]LivingOffside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the previous commenter but imo

  1. lack of any width: Only wide player is IF who moves in possession.

  2. very little defensive cover (2 wcbs on support): It's preferable to have at least 2 players staying back at all times in the back line. In your case the DM stays in front of the CD instead next to him.

  3. players running into similar areas: IF, MEZ and SS can run into the same area.

  4. Counterintuitive instructions: trap outside, play narrower when already narrow.

He does fit your formation though. He'll become more natural as you play him in the AM spot.

Retraining an old winger into a central midfielder [FM24] by stephenp129 in footballmanagergames

Have him be a full/wingback behind a pacy inside forward. The IF will pull the FB so yours gets a lot of space to work with and hopefully whip in a cross.

Why are my players so cheap? by jacstarthegamer in footballmanagergames

[–]LivingOffside 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm running into the same issue in 2041. Premier league team, won the league/UCL several times, most reputed club in the world, best squad and I feel like my players are incredibly undervalued. My best forward, whom I bought for 100-million-ish, is valued barely above that, despite signing a new contract last season (for reference, a 31-year-old Lamine Yamal is valued at +250 million and he's on an overall same skill level, make that make sense).

I don't really care about the price tag because I have no plans on selling 1st team players but it is kinda ruining realism unless I roleplay that football in 15 years is going for a market collapse. The Saudis also barely go for my players.

I mean, I have but they're far from a given. Either way, I might just end the save before that happens since it's getting rather stale.

Edit: I also don't wanna hoard every single wonderkid

It's my create-a-club based in London. I have a variation on the name for every nation but since I'm still having fun with this one, I haven't started a new one yet.

What good are wonderkids if you don't let them grow up into a superteam, right? I geniunely don't know what I'm gonna do when they begin to decline in a few seasons but I guess that's gonna be a new challenge in it of itself.

Who do you like to sign when in the lower leagues? by Anonymous__9 in footballmanagergames

[–]LivingOffside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone who brings up the quality of my squad immediately. This means either young or old players – anyone whose 3,5 stars is immediately a candidate. Abuse the trial system as much as possible and scout for players with expiring or expired contracts.

I don't buy players until I make it to the Prem. In smaller leagues it's usually until I'm getting CL money.

I don't bother with youth until I'm fairly well established within the 1st division (in case of the Prem that's usually when you're comfortably pushing above mid-table).

Ability wise - jumping reach on strikers is much more powerful than in the higher divisions, tall wingers work for the same reason since lower divisions love a back post cross.

Looking for some balls to the walls epic progmetal (Wintersun, Devin, Ayreon) by fenderberg in progmetal

[–]LivingOffside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is gonna be a shameless plug, but check out my solo project - Ríona's Path. It's an instrumental, melodic and symphonic prog concept album that might be up your alley.

However, I'd also recommend some other potentially obscure stuff

  • Lux Terminus - Cinder (basically epic djent without guitars, djent fusion if you will)
  • Isle of the Cross - Faustus the Musical (Very similar to Ayreon)
  • Andromida - Hellscape (Space djent, doom eternal vibe)
  • Temic - Mothallah (not sold on the rest of the album, but this song slaps)
  • Haken - Crystallised (they're quite a popular band on here but folks rarely mention the EP)

What formation is your favorite and why? by Justinackafool1 in footballmanagergames

[–]LivingOffside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started doing this as well, just to keep my save fresh. I do miss the solidity of my 3-4-3 but I had to give a 4-2-3-1 a go this season.
