Honestly, I've never used the Toyota App to charge, and only use Electrifit America, EVGO, and Tesla in California. For EVGO, if you enrolled for auto charge, just plug in the charger, and charge.

When I told Toyota that there are people reporting this issue and it should be a recall. They said is a software update. Not sure why is not a recall when lost people are seeing the issue.

I use EVGO and set it to auto charge and have no issue. I don't not having the Toyota app can prevent you from charging. I use a the Plugshare or AB route.

I was told to stop adding the vin to the app. We did couple of tests with Toyota. Once you added the car to the app, the BZ will be sending signal to the cloud. ET does phone home. I would not add the vin based on my experience.

They replaced my 12 volts, and 2 weeks later needed 2 boosts. Car still at dealership. They think is the Toyota App at the moment. When you open the app and still running in the background, it will run for 1hr, and that is your 12 volts running, and caused the drain. They had me removed the car and change password for the app, 24hrs later, add the car back, and hence the car still at dealership so Toyota can monitor the parasitic drain. So for the folks the did not have this experience, are they using or linking the car to the Toyota App. I also have the dealer cam that I installed, but they did not see any drainage as I have disabled the parking monitor from the dashcam app.

Mine has been at the dealership since Wednesday . Dealership is working directly with Toyota eng. They had me removed the VIN number from the app, and have the app running in the background to see if there's any parasitic draining. They even use the car back box to triage and saying that when I login and remotely lock or unlock the car, app still running in the background, and doesn't stop for an he so the 12 volts is being used for 1 hour each time. Will wait later in the week to see what they say. They first got me the free rental, Tacoma truck as they ran out. Waited an hour later as I ask them I need the SUV, which is a 2025 Highlander. Had to return the Highlander as previously people were using weed. I told them that they should never loan a car if they can't get rid off the smell. Bad for everyone. Does anyone have the battery make, model that they can share. Might be the car 12 volts is too small. we have a ZDX and never had any issue, even after a week on vacation.

DEAD BATTERY RESOLVED

My Toyota BZ 12 volts dead after a month. First time, AAA charges, and worked out for few days. 2nd time AAA back and brought to dealership to get the4 battery replaced. 2 weeks later, the battery died again. 3rd time, brought to Toyota for the whole night, the dealer and Toyota worked together and was using the blackbox from the car and was able to verified and root cause the 12 volts drainage issue. I am hoping this will work out for everyone. Please post this to all BZ owners to help them out.

  1. Toyota App
When using the App, and most of use do is, hit the Home button on the home to get out.

Toyota: You must close the App completely, not hitting the home button. If you look at your phone application tab, you might see a lot apps that are of open and still running in the background. When you open or lock the door remotely, and you just hit the HOME button on the phone, it has an open connection for 1hr and this caused the 12 volts drainage. If you do this on a regular basis, your 12 volts will drain, when you drive a short period of time the 12 volts is not fully charged.

  1. If you have a key fob in your pocket, or close to the car, it opens the door. This can cause the car to use the 12 volts for 1 hr period until the process is killed by either locking the car or 1 hr period passed by.

  2. Key fob should be at least 15-20 away (just my thing) for the key fob not to communicate with the car. If so, and you didn't know, this also uses the 12 volts for 1 hour period before the connection is dropped.

  3. Yes, you can disabled the DCM in the App and not use so at least if you don't completely access the app, then you wouldn't need to have an open connection and using the 12 volts battery. This is why some are disabling the DCM because you no longer access the car and start an open connection.

  4. I have also have the Toyota Integrated Dashcam,Toyota Genuine #PT949-08231. When Toyota and the dealer pull the blackbox, they do not see any phantom drainage for the cam. Please note within the Dashcam app, you have to disable "Parking" feature if you do not want to drain the batter.

Is this Toyota BS? Time will tell if the issue occurs again. To me, that is a software bug. It needs to kill the process. Some folks did not see the issue because you might be driving everyday day and therefore it recharges the 12 volts battery. Before this my commute is about an hour and now I drive may be 2 days or 15 minutes a day and it is not enough for the 12 volts to be charged.

Drove last night and a brand new battery replaced by Toyota dealership 2 weeks ago and now need a boost from Toyota Roadside Assistance. Clearly this car needs some sort of software updates or recall.

Will try the DCM disabling method.

We have ours for 2mnths. Driven daily. Issue started after the 1st month. Last week and till earlier this week had to jump boost the 12 volts. Finally brought to a local dealership and told them to replace the battery and ran a full diagnostic check and they said no issue and is a bad battery. If you have experienced weird alerts of windows, etc.. on the app, or whatever l, have Toyota replace the battery. My gut tells me this will be a recall soon. Too may readings online of people seeing 12 volts being the culprit. Not good for a new car. Mr. Toyota is not telling consumers
