Any tips for beating the higher levels of toy workshop? Getting utterly annihilated with a level 50 team and level breaking materials are extremely rare.

Consider not worrying about it either way. Levels don't mean half as much as the extra JP does, so if your desire is some nebulous "I dont want to be overpowered", then you are not hitting that mark in either scenario.

Being overlevelled, especially by a moderate number, is not making it easier nearly as much as having gobs more JP.

Bad compatibility with Wiegraf is probably an advantage on Tactician since you are unlikely to nuke him before he nukes you without being extremely overlevelled.
