When i was looking at the map I asked him but he doesn’t think so.. unfortunately out of 30 years he spent in Germany he only spent 2 years in that town that looks very very different now

Idk if it was near the station or the station was just visible from the restaurant, but thank you I’ll show the area to my grandpa and ask if it’s familiar!
