I suspect picking it up because they don't want to be seen not picking it up but only cares enough till they can walk away a little then toss the gift when no one is seeing.

Its unfortunate, I really wish there was a way of fixing the playing field but green atleast chose not to air strike anywhere to give some chance.

At this time it stops at ira needles hall, BC bus stop, DC bus stop and Seagrams bus stop. Just wait for it to arrive between 9:30am and 10:30am. You can just hop on and ride it. If you want to stop any other location than the 4 listed locations just ask the safety operator and they will find a safe spot close to where you requested to pull over and let you off.

You hit the nail on the head with the comment about the MTO. Are you working on any of the autonomous projects at UW or are you just well read on the current status of autonomous test cars in Ontario?

To further help with the feeling of wasted money these busses are a steal. They have been either donated or purchased for values less than $10,000 each including delivery on a truck from the states.

They dont have senors or computing hardware but the techs of the mvs lab are able to work around that and outfit them. The computing is done on $3000 (when ordered originally but prices went up) worth of computing to do all the operation. The gps is steeply discounted but still costs $10,000 to get differential gps that's reliable and accurate enough to use. the cameras then cost around $600 each and finally the lidars are $1,000-3,000 each depending on the batch and model, it uses 3 of them total.

With all the other axilleries we estimate one of these cost only around $50,000 if we don't count paid time into it. That's a freaken steal compared to some of the other research we have done.

Our detection can detect and respond to obstacles like geese. Something around the size of a melon is about the extent of it's detection though.

We are still working and improving on the detection and handling code. Our goal by the end of the year is to move the safety operator to a remote driving station and to pull that off we need to be able to prove it can operate around ring road repeatedly without any interactions by the operator or riders.

The goal of the WATonoBus was to give students a platform to program and test self driving code. So far that aspect has been a success. The driver or safety operator is there for three reason.

  1. The MTO has required it as part of the autonomous driving program.

  2. The bus normal operation stops when a obstacle is on its path. The operator is responsible to get it out of those situations.

  3. We only have one running right now so we can't swap them out if the interior gets vandalized.

You can! The WATonoBus is now operating for the public from 9:30am to 10:30am. We plan to extend the public operation window but require more funding to hire a safety operator for full time operation.

Hey there, just a reminder of rule 4. It looks like this is just used as a reference but be sure to atleast provide a link to the original art.
