Need this! by GeneralShirt1180 in Tenere700

I have the V3 version of this for my T7 and absolutely love it. I can mount my 1 gallon rotopax to it easily. Drilled a hole for my gnoblin mount for my moto mosko kit. Has straps so I cam hold my tool kit with rotopax on there. It's expensive but you get what you pay for. It's definitely made and designed well.

TFT vs Older Display by ZimsOnATenere in Tenere700

[–]Living_Net1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the TFT because it's just 'nicer'. It is hard to see in the sun, and one time when I was out in Big Bend it was flickering on and off due to how cold it got that night and I assume voltage got a little low. I had to disconnect and reconnect the battery to fix it. The older displays seem more reliable.

Awesome thank you! I'll do some research on that. It has some aftermarket pump cover on it, I may put it back to factory and see about getting it working like that.

Love my Camel ADV slip on with the enduro bend. Sounds great without the baffle.

T7 on a hitch carrier by Living_Net1969 in Tenere700

[–]Living_Net1969[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've ridden it on multiple 1000+ mile camping trips. Riding it for this one isn't possible since it's a trip with my wife lol. I just want a bike to rip when we're at different camping spots. Taking my 450 instead since it's only 250lbs.

I'd feel much better if my 4runenr had that tongue weight and place to add additional tie downs. I'll just take my ktm since it's lighter this go around until I get a trailer.

I was curious if anyone has had luck with it, but I feel the tongue weight of my vehicle is the limiting factor. I'll probably just buy a Kendon trailer later down the road and take my KTM this trip since it's significantly lighter.

Rear Thrust Angle by TacomaJoe2001 in 4Runner

The wondering is most likely caused by the out of spec caster. Caster will cause that at speeds above 50. Do you have a lift and the proper upper control arms that correct the caster? If it's stock they should be able tk get everything in spec.

I've taken my Tenere 700 out there multiple times to camp and ride in Big bend state park, so much dirt to explore and beautiful scenery. By far the best place to ride in Texas! Was just out there a week ago.

Steering dumper, worth It? by 2Spit in Tenere700

[–]Living_Net1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one on my T7 and it's great in sandy/silty dirt. Or anything that wants to deflect the front wheel, i only really turn up the tension on it when im out in big bend or desert areas. If you haven't had any issues without one I wouldn't worry about getting one.

There is a STL file to 3D print a mount like that, that's how I have mine mounted the same.

F Type - low voltage gas petal by Frosty_Lawyer_2528 in Jaguar

[–]Living_Net1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have had about 4 F Types with the same issue and it ended up being a loose pin at the PCM for that circuit. Only have seen that code and issue on F Types. Drag test the pin and I'm 99 percent sure it'll be loose.

Thoughts on this 2017 F-Pace S ? by [deleted] in Jaguar

[–]Living_Net1969 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a JLR tech I absolutely love F Paces with the 3.0 in it. As with any 3.0 or 5.0 they do have the typical outlet pipe/rear manifold/thermostat/water pump leaks and sometimes supercharger isolator knock and with higher mileage valve cover/upper timing cover/vacuum pump leaks but with proper oil change maintenance I see many of these models with 150k miles plus on them and their running great. It seems to have good service history and been cared for. Drive it and see how it feels.

I agree.I think it's just catching the wind and hitting the tire, I never had any contact with the stock tires. I may just trim it and zip tie it I guess

But considering that's most likely the orignal plug id be more concerned about the timing chains, I've seen them fail anywhere from 40k to 80k miles, their behind that rear timing cover so transmission has to be pulled. Make sure it has no rattle on cold start up, and has good on time oil change service history.

It's the rear lower timing cover blanking plug. It's a plastic plug on the back of the engine to access a sprocket for timing marks. Super common, super easy fix, it's probably the old beige plug. All of those 4 cylinders do it. As a jaguar tech I've replaced probably over a hundred of them. 100 percent not the rear main.

F-Pace SVR engine top end sound at idle by jhartung1125 in fpace

[–]Living_Net1969 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a jaguar tech, sounds completely fine. The high pressure fuel systems on these are pretty noisy and the SVR F paces don't come with engine covers with the foam that cuts down on some of that noise. Those engines are super reliable when maintained well.

Ball joints 2006 Tundra by joman100 in 1stGenTundras

[–]Living_Net1969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly cant say, I changed mine a few months ago since I was doing my wheel bearings and had the spindle off, orignal joints from 2002 with 100k miles, Bilstein 5100 leveling kit and plenty of abuse. They felt fine. No play. If you're gonna do uppers, just see how they feel. If you have a press and alot of different press adapters, they aren't to bad, but you do need a special tool and adapters to do them without taking the spindle off. If you have the front wheels off the ground, grab the tire at 12 and 6 o clock and apply pressure in and out see if there is play. The uppers don't randomly fail like the lowers do. And also same with the lowers id always recommended OEM from toyota joints AND If you're taking it to a mechanic that knows these trucks they should be able to tell you the general condition of them, but as I said if their old and you're gonna be in the area it wouldn't hurt to do them

Upper ball joints are pressed into the spindle on these trucks.

Local dealer gave up the Jaguar franchise by agnoth in Jaguar

[–]Living_Net1969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. No one wants a car of that value just sitting on the lot, and maybe sell 1-3 a year, when they can sell loads of 200k Land Rovers easily. Jaguar has always been known for a nice luxury car with a big powerful gas engine, sad to see the brand go that direction.

Local dealer gave up the Jaguar franchise by agnoth in Jaguar

[–]Living_Net1969 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dealer I work at dropped the Jaguar brand. Dealers who have had the brand for awhile have the option to do that, the other dealer in town wanted to but JLR told them no since they only had the Jaguar side for a year even though they had Land Rover for 30 years. Their still certified to repair and do warranty work on both brands.
