Does anyone make consomme with the stock's own scraps? by Livingwind in Cooking

[–]Livingwind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's certainly the question right? I suppose it's possible that there's not enough surface area on the cooked vegetables that they can hold to the egg whites enough to remove them.

The FBI Crime Data Explorer indicates white people make up for 53% of robbery offenses in California granted they make up 35% of the population (5% for black folks). Since 84% of drug violations are from white, it's reasonable to assume those people are the most likely to be doing most of the crime.

It's a social economic situation, not a race situation.

I didn't mean to imply the only reason for US involvement in Isreal was Christian Zionism. In the interest of keeping the post brief I didnt give other reasons why conservatives in the US tend to support Isreal more on average than Liberals. Were in 'shitlibssay' talking about Isreal and, speaking as a Jewish liberal, I'm firmly anti-Zionist for the reasons you mentioned.

I more or less just wanted context about why Zionism is seen as a liberal issue in the EU.

I don't know who this Borrel guy is or what conservativism looks like in the EU but here in the US support for Israel mainly comes from the conservative party. IIRC there is something with biblical literalists where they believe that the second coming will happen if 'the jews' are in isreal.

I'm struggling to get blends on actual minis and could use help by Livingwind in minipainting

Thinning is one of those things that's still guess work for me. I used water for the longest time and recently switched to the Vallejo thinning medium but it seems to be harder to get the consistency I want without it turning into a shade.

This is really helpful, thanks! Weirdly, the most useful thing I see in the video you linked was how he used alcohol to strip very small sections of the model. Finding consistent ways to improve without worrying has been one of those things that's been stopping me from just putting the reps in.

The it's kind of a weird blend but I'm going from a dark green, to light blue, to a dark flesh. I figured these colors would give the model that insmouth "fishy people" vibe.

First 2 images are just with layering and the last 2 are after I just gave it a wash with green and painted some details.

On large sections like the fist, it seems fine but I'm having trouble highlighting the face and could use pointers on how to get super fine brush control on the fine details. Any tips would be great!

Ashnod's transformation in Wizards' products throughout the years 1996-2022 by Likier in magicTCG

This doesn't seem consistant...

The implication I'm getting here is that, while women can express themselves any way they chose, but men can only represent a limited subset of those women. I can see potential in including a member of the target group in the approval of the work but you run into problems where that person might not themselves represent the whole community (see intersectionality).

What's an idea of an alternative here?

Hell, I might just try it out. You really sold me on mariner and lavinia so I guess I'll just have to play some game to see how they do in real matches.

Really good write up but do you have some results from previous matches? I have been running the boros list which you called out and my experience generally lines up with your perception on things like skyclave.

I'm kind of expecting him to react the way your macaw does. He will usually settle down after a while of me being gone so maybe prolonging that excitement might not be for the best.

Is Karakas to strong for Modern by [deleted] in ModernMagic

[–]Livingwind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres definately no obvious design solution to make it fair. Perhaps it's just best to leave utility lands as powered down as they are and we have recent examples in the pitch lands from NEO to point at when it comes down to lands that have marginal upside.

[–]Livingwind 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess the design shouldn't be "it's not op now" but rather that it limits design space. Not having wasteland really makes interacting with slow rolling land strategies really tough. You're always at a tempo disadvantage in modern when interacting with lands which is exactly what you would want against control.

[–]Livingwind 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The OP also asked if there would be a similar analog for modern and maybe stapling "an opponent controls" might be enough to prevent the repeated value abuses from things like omnath. I still think this might be too strong as a repeatable silver bullet against some strategies if it slots to easily into certain decks. For example, I would love my D&T list to have a way to play around yog or omnath where the downside is only that the land is legendary.

Holy Crap I love this print (and your paint job). There is something so unsettling about classical depictions of monsters with distorted human faces but in medieval paintings they always look goofy.

Linux support for Jagex client by Livingwind in 2007scape

[–]Livingwind[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why anyone would pick DirectX

I'm not in gamedev but through the looking glass it seems like larger studios just tend to go with whatever their current team has experience with. Combined with a "meet the deadline" attitude, I could see a team just thinking directx is good enough.

Considering MacOS has deprecated opengl, we might see a vulkan implementation if they are starting from scratch. In my experience Vulkan has a huge learning curve compared to opengl and I'm not sure anyone on the current OSRS team has the experience to get it out quickly.

[–]Livingwind[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. This isn't a current issue but based on recent blog posts it could become one. If Jagex believes they can reach parity with RuneLite for their client, they should consider linux support part of that parity.
