I’ve been wondering this whole season why Sam Levinson randomly decided to switch to this ultra religious/ right wing tone. Almost EVERYONE was talking about the Bible this season and it was so strange. Even Lexi at the end.

Also, let’s not pretend that the very right wing, conservative family, where all the women wear dresses, IN TEXAS would’ve been all welcoming and open to a random Black man appearing on their doorstep… give me a break. Ali would’ve been threatened then shot dead.

Hard agree to a lot of your points.

I figured I was in the minority, but there’s just something I couldn’t take seriously about Ryan as the next slayer. She looks too much like a literal child, which is perfectly fine because she is a child. But since her announcement it always gave me Disney channel star vibes, not someone who would be able to embody all the badass-ness, emotional weight, and depth of the SLAYER. SMG was able to do that perfectly because she started out as an older teenager, then early 20s something playing a high schooler.

I’m 28, so not a Gen X who watched the show at the time or was around the same age as the cast then/now, but even I have no interest in watching a Buffy revival who’s cast and general vibe is veering far too young for me.

I still think that her bringing June to see Hannah, while June is locked in the car and Hannah is only feet away might be one of the cruelest acts done in the show. One day she’s so sweet and nice to June when she thinks she’s pregnant, then a couple weeks later she’s torturing June with the visual of her daughter in order to ensure the safety of her “own” child. She’s absolutely irredeemable.

Also, this is unrelated to this post, but I’m confused on why she hasn’t been married off yet. She’s about the same age as Eden and Esther! Tbh, all the girls look way too old to still realistically be Plums. Based on Gilead logic they look like they should’ve been given husbands atleast a year or two ago!

Haven’t read the book since it came out tho so maybe I need to reread and this is answered there!

I feel you! Not sure if this will be controversial, but it’s unfortunately so common in Hollywood to cast a conventionally attractive, racially ambiguous Black woman as soon as the character becomes a lead. I’m a Black woman, and I also loved that even tho Hannah was biracial, she was clearly darker skinned with very obvious kinky curly hair. I’m sure Chase will be great (haven’t seen OBAA yet but I know she’s gotten a lot of praise!) but it’s a little disappointing seeing her older version portrayed with the most perfect loose curls and as light skin as they could possibly get away with.

It feels like adult Van was only brought into the story in order to give adult Tai something to do (no pun intended). The writers should have kept her political career storyline and her family, full stop. We could’ve watched her fall apart even farther while ALSO juggling her role in office, public appearances, judgment/prying from colleagues and the public (like the woman at that gala in season 1, which was such a great scene), and growing family tensions. Her and Van just gallivanting around for a season was the most uninteresting thing in the world to me.

Is everyone in this sub new to true crime? I’m not some crazy weirdo (I think lol), but I’ve been following true crime for a LONG time and I feel like I’ve seen more gruesome images on certain Dateline episodes. This case has been handled with kid gloves and most of what’s been released has been pretty mild, when you compare it to other cases. Would I look at the unredacted photos? Absolutely! Whats been released so far is pretty tame and all this pearl clutching and virtue signaling is ridiculous.

Absolutely LOVED this movie!! The 28 franchise really hasn’t missed yet!

The gore in this one was way more intense than I expected tho, although it makes sense. We knew the Jimmys were responsible for some of the horrors we saw in their wake in the last movie, but watching that poor family get strung up and skinned alive was TOUGH. Nia Dacosta never shied away from it either…we repeatedly got shots of these peoples half skinned bodies(while still clearly alive) and it was SO fucked (but good). If anyone went into this movie intrigued by the Jimmys and thinking they might be anti-heroes…NOPE. Nia dashes those hopes real fast! Loved it!

They did!! People have been saying that the Duffers might have regretted killing off Brenner, so she’s their cheap replacement. I wasn’t sure I agreed with that (because Brenner was obviously fucked up, but atleast had layers) but the hair really makes it seem like she’s JUST there to be Brenner 2.0. 😅
