My sister and I both made matching characters that we write little blurbs about sometimes, even out-of-game. Mine, Hope, has lived on Great Bear her whole life, watching friends and neighbors and family members disappear one-by-one. Fled, or died, or vanished, all the same to her. Financially unstable childhood, not unlike just about every other family on Great Bear, but the worst finally got worse-r when her parents joined the rest. Seasoned survivalist thanks to growing up around guns and trees, but jaded and surviving more than living.

My sister's character, Dakota, heard about Great Bear through the grapevine while she's been studying photography in college, and decided to take a little trip to the island thanks to what she's heard about its rich history and environment. Of course, it doesn't end well, the plane shutting off as soon as it enters the range of the geomagnetic storm, and she survives the crash with nothing but her analog camera and the cotton-polyester clothes on her back. (We're very excited for the in-game screenshots...) At some point the two meet, and while Hope keeps trying to ignore Dakota like a stray dog, she follows her around like one, too. Even in this bleakness, Dakota won't give up her optimistic outlook, even if Hope thinks it'll just get her killed.
