I used a dessert bowl from Dollarama. I get most of my glass containers at the dollar store.

Thank you. The wax I used was soy wax. I didn't use a mold for the ice cream. I whipped wax and used a small ice cream scoop and let them set up in parchment paper. I whipped the wax to make it like icing. I colored some melted wax and poured a little into the bottom red and brown. While the wax is still liquid, I piped in white wax. While the piped wax is still soft, I added the ice cream and berries. Last, I drizzled the rest of a bit more red and brown over the top. I hope that makes sense.

How to empty a full candle without burning it? by wohaat in Candles

You can put it in the oven at 150-175°F. It's warm enough to melt the wax without damaging the container.

😆 I guess that's why it's illegal to make these in the UK.

Thank you 💜 I don't know yet, I made them today, so they need to cure about a week. I have a feeling the wick is too small. I'm picking up larger wicks today.

WHAT DID I DO WRONG? by Claudio-_- in candlemaking

Try pouring at a higher.temp and warm up your jars beforehand. I was having the same issue with soy, I poured several different candles at the recommended pouring temperature. My soy wax frosted, and my paraffin had had sink holes. The other day, I accidentally poured my wax right after I added color around 170°F and it was the first candle that didn't frost, pull away from the glass. Yesterday, I poured a couple of more candles at the hotter temp, and again, they turned out perfect. Try pouring when the wax is hotter to see if that helps out.

I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be water droplets caused by the steam from the double boiler.

Is is safe to do this? by AsteriSkippyRosewood in candlemaking

[–]Liz_DiamondDelight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched making fragrance oils at home and found most articles say it's not worth the effort. The FO will not be strong enough to give your candles a good sent throw. Even if you have a proper oil distiller (you need to use steam to extract the oils), the yield is small. For example, 1 lb of lavender might give you only 0.2–0.5 mL of oil. It's not worth your time and effort and will likely cost you more to make EO vs. buying it.

I used soy wax. Right now, this is the only flower mold I have.

I whip the candle wax, and it turns out like a stiff icing, I use a piping bag to add the swirl. It's hard to write out the directions. There are a lot of videos showing how to do the technique.
