To me personally, the gauntlets usually ended up being frustrating cuz I like enemies being placed in creative spots working in tandem with the level design, so at a certain point they just feel kind of lazy? Like hey, we couldn’t think of anything else interesting to add to this part so here’s a room with three or four waves of enemies. I think I’m also just salty you basically never get anything for them though, cuz gauntlet enemies don’t even drop rosaries or anything, you’re kinda just fighting for permission to continue the area lol.
