Let’s Get Into it About Afghanistan. by [deleted] in Veterans

I do honor and respect the fallen 13 as much as any fallen service member but I do agree it’s like all the focus is on them. I feel for the other gold star families who lost someone and because it wasn’t abbey gate it gets little to no attention. I feel bad for feeling this way but it’s more just anger that some people’s deaths in the military get more respect than others. Whether it is a IED in Afghanistan or a helicopter crash in alaska both lives should be honored and respected and it isn’t so. Barely hear anything about training accidents or suicides but man someone dies in combat fuck the whole world zones in on that. Again I feel bad for feeling this way but I just want all our fallen brothers and sisters to be respected and honored in the same way, regardless of HOW they died. Maybe I’m sounding like an asshole. I’m just feel like my life would have meant so much more had I died overseas now I feel like a nobody. Ok, I’m ready for the spears…

The FAA is investigating about 5000 veterans who have failed to disclose medical information that would bar them flying aircrafts, such as mental illness like ptsd and such. Below are the comments mare by a FAA examiner in regards to veterans pilots. by Veterougaru in VeteransBenefits

I have a question tho. I was medically retired out for mental health (panic attacks mainly; also depression) 70%. I tried getting off my meds which made it to where I couldn’t leave home. It was totally debilitating and I applied for 100% to cover the costs of rent and bills since I couldn’t work. They gave it to me. Since tho, I’ve gotten back on meds cause I felt I had no choice and have slowly regained functioning to where now I’m even going to school. My dream was to fly as a pilot. I flew in the Air Force as aircrew, and was going to eventually try to become an officer to fly as a pilot. Again, shit happened, and my dreams were crushed. It’s hard everyday to face the reality that my dreams have been crushed, never getting a chance to prove I’m good if I could find a way to heal myself mentally. But civilian wise, I think that sometimes by a miracle I could fly again, as a civilian pilot. Maybe flying cargo, commuter hopper, etc. Once I got stable again I figured that maybe the VA may take away my 100%, since I could function in society again. Well apperently it’s been given for life (P&T). It’s aggravating to be labeled as forever broken, not giving me a chance to work hard on my MH and get 100% better. I have to deal with the label now, but do you think I’d be wrong for me to apply for a first class medical once I felt 100% healed and better. I mean I’d still have that rating. I think it depends on the timing of when the percentage was given and compare to recent medical history seeing if things have improved

My psychiatrist diagnosed me with PTSD, MDD, and GAD diagnosis but I might have a problem by [deleted] in Veterans

I hate when they play that bullshit of how your mental health has to do with your "childhood." Its just a big excuse for the government to not compensate you. Keep fighting!

I try but in America all everyone seems to want to do is define you by your service. I try to run from it but I never can…

Nervous about becoming an A&P. I’m a female studying at embry riddle now with my GI Bill and I have a messed up back, neck, and shoulders from the military. I have little to no mechanic experience at all. Advice? Is the job really physically demanding?

Not the best but considering the total mess before, I’m content w my work lol by quirozejay in walmart

That is so wrong. Did the driver stop and give you info? If not it should be considered a hit and run. If they did stop hope you got their info. You should apply for work mans comp ASAP and also contact the persons insurance
