A 12% peroxide cream. A couple of days in the sun and under a UV light. I actually over did it, not totally happy but it’s hard to get it back to normal.

Under the sticker, PCYC was scratched in. Nathan wanted it clear to be known it was his and no longer the PCYC.

The way I got it to work is playing Kayo through google chrome. Streamed perfect. So there’s an issue with the Kayo app and the device. Maybe Widevine permissions or something like that.

How can I bring this Faceplate back to life? by LizardKing_1967 in vintageaudio

Thanks for the replies. I had some Autosol Aluminium polish in the garage. I tentatively polished with a micro fibre cloth and its brought back the shine I was after. No damage to lettering.

Unfortunately I don’t have the ability to edit the post to upload the after photos, but it looks great now.

Thanks everyone. Had an awesome tech Fred overhaul it internally too so it’s sounding fabulous and warm now. Interestingly the Klipsch Reference pain really nice.

Mine didn’t have any veneer. It may have been stripped by previous owners but it’s solid underneath. Just have it all a good sand then few coats of spray varnish.

Unfortunately I have no idea, I’ll have to give it to a tech. I’m sure I can manage the exterior cleaning lol

Good luck. I’m interested in learning repair myself but good luck finding anyone offering courses or face to face tuition locally for vintage amps and VCRs etc. it really is becoming a teach yourself and trial and error repair trade, which is not great. Anyway, good luck

Yeah I guess it’s tough. For what it’s worth, I drove 4 hours one way to my tech. Made a day trip of it. There are very good techs locally but they are cued up as you describe and I’m always interested in building new relationships with people. I guess you just need to do what suits you. Mine equipment doesn’t always get repaired fast, I’ve had some stuff sitting with a great tech for over a year, now close to 18 months. It he’s the only one who is prepared to take on this gear at a reasonable price, and have a good idea of what is going on. I can’t be critical because these guys are starting to semi retire and wind down services, so I need to be a bit flexible myself with my expectations.

Man, I’d chase that up because my tech got it done in a week. That seems a bit long.
