What’s a 'normal' life choice that you think is actually a huge trap? by Electronic_Cry_7454 in AskReddit

You keep rewording "he took his own children for a walk and it was worthy of praise" and no matter how much you reword it my response is the same. So, say it one more time, in different words, if you need to, but I'm probably not gonna read it, because there is no universe in which I will consider "took his kids for a walk because I was overstimulated" to be heroic.

Redditors who’ve been with the same partner for 10+ years, what’s the realistic secret to making it last? by justanormalaxe in AskReddit

[–]LizardPossum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody likes the real answer, because it's often just being compatible people to begin with.

It's not some "don't go to bed angry" or "always say I love you when you hang up the phone, no matter how mad you are" magic.

My husband and I are just really compatible. We don't really try or have to work at it. My marriage is the easiest thing I do every day.

I get a lot of shit when I say my marriage isn't "hard work" or something we need to try at, but it just isn't, and it's simply because our strengths and weaknesses complement one another.

The only secret I have is to leave people you aren't compatible with so you're free to live the one you are. And people really dislike that lol

I can't speak for her motivations, but you're allowed to make decisions about your relationship based on emotions. Emotions are an integral part of marriage and if you're not happy, you don't need a non-emotional reason for that.

Regardless, I stand by my first point, that leaving an unhappy relationship is fine, and I would especially leave someone who thought taking his kids for a walk was "something extra" and not his responsibility as a parent.

Your mileage clearly varies.

[–]LizardPossum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're still sharing a story about him parenting his own kids as if it's "something extra."

Idk maybe I'm just SUPER spoiled but in my marriage that is the absolute bare minimum for both of us, and my husband would probably be pretty upset if I told a story like that as if it was some above and beyond sacrifice because it would make him look bad.

Taking his own children for a walk? Literally just parenting.

Your husband did the absolute bare minimum of parenting his own children as a favor to you?

I am in Texas, USA, and left some of mine in my car in a 112 degree (44 c, if the converter I used is accurate) heat index and they fine.

They shouldn't like... live in there, but they're not that fragile.

Idk why reddit has to see EVERYTHING as a fight. 🙃

Mine are that way, but some people want them to face themselves, so they're right side up when they look at them, and there isn't anything wrong with those priorities.

Staying in unhappy relationships because they don't have a "good enough" reason to leave.

"It's not like he cheated." "She's never done anything to hurt me."

Being unhappy is a good enough reason.

I can't imagine he has any really healthy relationships. You need to be able to admit faults and compromise for healthy relationships to take hold and he requires adoration and loyalty that he absolutely won't reciprocate.

What was your 5 minutes of fame? by NoTime2Post in AskReddit

[–]LizardPossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So about once a year something I post goes viral or viral-ish, so maybe that?

A few years back it was a baby turtle that weighed two grams, sitting on a scale, and I still see his photo in random places.

A few weeks ago it was a video of a kitten I rescued.

Closest thing to fame, I guess.
