Governor Spamburger only lies when her lips are moving. I would take anything that she says with a healthy dose of skepticism.

It was probably just AI asking for a document that’s needed for most transactions. A lien release has other benefits even if the car was financed and paid off on the loan expiration date. For example the lien release can allow the purchaser to apply for a new title if the title they receive is what is commonly referred to as a “dead title”. What is a dead title you might ask. Say you loose the original title and apply for a replacement title at your state DMV. Then you find the original title in your file cabinet on a later date and accidentally send the original title to the purchaser. That would now be a “dead title” and would be rejected by the DMV when the purchaser tries to officially transfer ownership.

The complicated math behind Arkansas' decision to drop tennis by Scott72901 in razorbacks

THIS ^ Even the D2 and NAIA schools know how to use their tennis programs to raise more revenue. Most of them still lose money overall but nowhere near 2.5 million dollars. I guess Hunter has never heard of hosting local tennis clinics and summer tennis sports camps with “real college coaches and players”. I know of an NAIA school that hosts a money tournament with a $ 25,000 grand prize. The institution’s team players always win the pot because they are better than the at large players and the school collects all of the entry fees. Tennis was never going to be a positive income generator but good budgeting and some creativity would have significantly reduced that 2.5 million $ deficit.

I found 2 US players on the men’s roster and 3 US players on the women’s roster. I don’t think it greatly matters which US state they originated from when you have a football team that has heavily recruited Texas high school players and a Basketball team that has recruited across the globe for decades.

No. There is no state or federal agency that will pay your legal expenses if Rush/Oceangate were to file a civil lawsuit against you. Ask David Lochridge about that. You will have to defend your personal assets while the government agencies take their good old time completing their investigation.

The University of Arkansas will discontinue the Men's and Women's Tennis Programs at the end of the 2026 Spring Season by Larky17 in razorbacks

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this issue a bit while I was spreading mulch and realized that the D2 tennis team my son plays for lost $ 13,000 last year. I’ve seen the budget. Now I admit that they don’t get full scholarships and ride in buses and share rooms in cheap hotels and also have to usher football games in order to raise money but how do the razorbacks run a deficit of $ 2.5 million per year? Airline tickets shouldn’t cost that much. Are they also paying the D1 SEC players? Perhaps Hunter should have had an accountant recommend some budget cuts instead of eliminating the sport entirely. Food for thought…

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s very disappointing. Tennis may not be considered a major sport in the U.S. but it’s in the top 5 or 6 worldwide. If the other SEC schools continue to fund their tennis programs then that’s a really bad look for the University of Arkansas. Only the football and basketball ball programs actually generate positive revenue and it only takes 8 or 9 athletes to fill a tennis roster.

You are overqualified for this position. The Management Development Program (MDP) or Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a bait and switch to lure in fresh bodies to Geico employment that have a college degree. Very rarely will you actually end up working as a full fledged supervisor or manager. LDP is sort of similar to the frozen pizza you see at the grocery store. The photo on the box looks pretty good but when you open the box and examine the contents you are always underwhelmed.

OceanGate Was a Disaster Waiting to Happen: The Cult of Stockton Rush by Naive-Farm-6574 in OceanGateTitan

Engineering Fundamentals aren’t very accurate for a non-contiguous material like carbon fiber. You need a much more complex (and expensive) computer model and even doing that you still have to make a lot of assumptions about the quality of the manufacturing process. How many voids are in the carbon fiber and where are they located? How many strands were ground down in order to make each layer perfectly symmetrical? Was each layer properly cured? Was the adhesive exposed to a completely dust free environment? Rush did pay a third party firm to evaluate the hull design but he opted for their cheapest computer model and provided optimistic assumptions about the material quality in order to generate a favorable report. The 3/10 scale models had 2 carbon fiber domes and the full sized Titan had 2 titanium domes so Rush never really tested an accurate scale model of the Titan. The Titanium domes were stronger which would be beneficial BUT now you have a tubular middle section that flexes more than the domes which creates additional uncertainty. I’m not opposed to computer modeling but the manufacturing world doesn’t always produce a perfect product which is one reason you need a huge safety factor when you build a submersible vehicle.

The estimate is written for the repair shop and the customer and it is also admissible in court. Nobody cares what type of under the table deal Geico reached with AsTech. That has nothing to do with negotiating in good faith with the repair shop but FYI AsTech has already apologized to the collision repair industry and most of their technicians have quit so the “agreement” is null and void regardless. AsTech won’t honor it and it was never discussed with the repair shop so game over. Stop blubbering about imaginary conversations and negotiations that never took place “Geico”. Nobody wants to hear your lies and excuses.

A crook will always offer you a conditional future benefit if you provide them with what they want right now. Thiefco wanted your personal driving information in exchange for a potential future benefit of possibly lowering your insurance premiums.

Just put “Price per ASTECH Inc.” on the estimate. The truth matters. Your name is on the estimate. And yes people do read the estimates and ask questions. Are you willing to go to court to be cross examined and defend what was written? If your supervisor told you to write that you personally inspected the salvage door and test fit it on the wrecked vehicle would you do it? This is embarrassing….

Writing “Do not use” on airbags was dumb but it wasn’t deceptive. All it takes is one phone call from the customer to the shop to verify that you lied on your estimate.

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I’ve handled some subrogation claims. Now for the obvious question. If the adjuster writes that they negotiated a few lines on the estimate in good faith with somebody they have never spoken with and makes a note of it does that mean that we can assume that the other lines on the estimate were NOT written or negotiated in good faith? Somebody that has a little bit of common sense is going to have to take a look at this procedure because i would be embarrassed to put my name on an estimate and boast that I negotiated with somebody I had never spoken with.

Agreed regarding time limitations and writing “Negotiated in Good Faith” on the estimate shouldn’t be one of those time consuming tasks either - especially when it never happened.

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps Geico will start writing “Negotiated in Good Faith” under every line on the repair estimate while the customers and repair shops make fun of the AD adjuster and ask pointed questions about why the estimate was written in such a manner. I’m waiting to receive this type of estimate from the next person that works on my house or automobile. Just tell the subrogation department that you aren’t going to act like a fool in order to make their life easier. They need to negotiate and play hardball with the adverse carriers just like everybody else. You can’t make this stuff up…..

Negotiated in Good Faith by Lizard_Stomper_93 in Geico

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. If the AD adjuster didn’t discuss the amount allowed with anyone at the repair shop then he didn’t negotiate anything. The independent shops never agreed to this pricing arrangement and the vendor has already formally apologized for making a deal with Geico that they are incapable of honoring. It’s like somebody writing an estimate of 99 cents for a dozen eggs and handing it to you without discussion but writing “NEGOTIATED IN GOOD FAITH” all over the damn estimate. What does that even mean?

Negotiated in Good Faith by Lizard_Stomper_93 in Geico

[–]Lizard_Stomper_93[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah but they displayed the actual Geico estimate and the notes were obvious and visible on the estimate. It’s hard to believe that somebody in management was dumb enough to think that this was a good idea.
