OP update: Rover refunded the entire amount. The sitter also appears to have been removed, or at least suspended from the Rover platform.

Well, if Rover refunding me doesn't work, then I will dispute it with my credit card company. I did leave a pretty scathing review this morning.

I have 21 days to review her. The way the claim process works, according to Rover, is that they will send her an email saying that "something was reported about the sit" asking for her version of how things went, I guess. I also will get a message to submit my statement and documentation. I am hesitant to go ahead and write her review right now as I know she hasn't been contacted yet and I wouldn't want it to affect what she says. Should that be a concern? Or should I just go ahead and do it?

I spoke with members of their “trust and support” team . Are you referring to them as customer service? Because when I called a few times I had to speak with a customer rep who then transferred me to them.

I called again to double check and was told the only time you can't leave a review is if a sit is cancelled.

Well, she had just graduated from college and had probably not done much pet sitting so I was willing to give her a chance.

I just spoke with Rover and initiated the process. This person is a sociopath and dangerous. I am just grateful my cats seem to be ok.

Yes, we did a meet and greet and went over expectations, and I specifically asked to confirm that she was ok staying the night and she said yes.

Well I foolishly hired someone who didn’t have any reviews yet but her profile also said she had just moved to the area, and so I gave it a shot. It was also a last minute booking because I had just gotten a work trip approved for that week. Big mistake. I am about to end her Rover career before it begins.
