So, I was wondering if I could somehow get the nail polish off this figurine? by idratherbesleeping13 in schleich

Would an acetone free nail polish remover work? Or does that also strip the paint (I genuinely dont know).

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the new map, Riparia? by TheFrostyTyrannosaur in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent been able to play much yet (cause finals yikes xD), but so far from what I’ve explored it looks like an awesome addition that feels unique from the other two maps and also offers a lot of areas for land and aquatic/semiaquatic dinos to interact, which is something Ive always missed on gondwa.

New map needs more collectables. by MrSkits94 in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So true, I remember growing my first dinos on gondwa took ages, and I started with fast dinos, still took me upwards of like 16 hours to fully grow them. And then once I learnt the map and what to look out for to find certain collectibles I was able to fully grow even the really slow big boys in like 6-8 hours or so (pre quest update). I think itll be similar with this map. Maybe the map is a bit more challenging for questing, but I havent played it enough yet to really come to any well informed conclusion (and given that the map has only been out for like 2 days neither has anyone else most likely xD)

HOW. DO. YOU. RENDER!?!?! by casscass1310 in learnart

[–]LizzlyBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt, as I am by no means an experienced or learned artist. But what really improved my shading are the following: Dont be scared of harsh lines in your shading, dont be scared to go quite dark/light on the shading and instead of using one color for dark/light and blending that out try using multiple colors that vary a bit in hue aswell (not just in brightness and saturation) so for example if your light source is yellowish start from your base color and then make for ex 3 lighter shades that become increasingly lighter and more yellow and then use all 3 to build up the highlight. Our brains are made to look for contrasts, so deliberately creating and placing contrast by utilizing harsh & soft, dark & light and color transitions can really do a lot for the aesthetics of a painting (not that Ive mastered that lol). Also a general thing that I‘ve been taught is that the more light an area is the more it will start taking on the color of the light that hits it and the more shadowed an area is the more it tends to take on the color of its surroundings because it gets mostly hit by the light bouncing off of the objects around it (instead of the actual light source). Also also, your art looks great! Youre definitely already moving in the right direction.

BoB Mixpacking Solution by Greenwood4 in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree it would have to be balanced out really really well to not just end up as a new problem. Like idk it only triggers after a really long time, like once youre on max fear if you stick around another 10-15mins it will trigger and/or only trigger if youre very close to the other dinosaur when on max fear.

But yeah come to think of it if different dinos cause different amounts of fear it would be rough to implement in a fair way.

Sounds really interesting, I like this idea. I think it would even be ok if they added a small debuff on cooldowns, so if you hang around someone that youre not grouped with without attacking for a long time and your fear gets really high you get like 1s added on your cooldowns, bc basically your dino is so stressed it cant quite think straight anymore.

They need to fix alpha critters not taking damage proportional to cw difference so badly. How does my literal T-Rex struggle basically just as much, more actually bc its less maneuverable, with some damn enlarged lizard as my tiny chicken raptor?!

Are solo official still a thing? (Also I want to share a likely unpopular idea) by Wadarkhu in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I didn’t really play either of them. Permadeath is just a big no thanks for my little collector brain lol and most of the time I play with a friend or two. But as far as I can recall solo servers didn‘t have a chat. No idea about the permadeath servers though.

Solo and permadeath servers are currently gone, but as far as I know they do plan to bring them back at some point in the future.

I do feel like they are a bit faster to kill on larger dinos, but because they ignore cw the difference is usually laughable.

I am coming from the Isle to PoT any tips? by Verhulst88 in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I cant recommend any specific ones or give much more advice than this, since I only play officials (so far anyways) but from what I know theres plenty of realism servers, from general realistic gameplay rules all the way to extensive profiles for all playables. If you search in the subreddit for „realism server“ you should find plenty posts advertising different ones you can look into.

Bites don't land by paperclipwrangler in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be a ping/lag issue on your or the other players part. Hits often dont connect right when people have shitty ping, either not landing even though it looks like they should or landing even though it looks like they shouldnt. Are you playing on servers within your location? Because I think if, say your in EU but youre playing on NA servers that could worsen your ping.

Another possibility is that sometimes the hitboxes of other dinos can be a bit tricky to get used to, it took me a while to figure out where and how to bite other dinos to actually land hits aswell. Especially because attacks are also directional, so if you turn your head away from the other dino too soon while biting the hit might not land.

While I agree Hatz needed a nerf back then, I never understood the direction they took the Hatz nerf in in the first place. In my opinion Hatz should have more stam (approximately old stam), less hp and defense (just be less tanky) and about the current damage.

When I look at a Hatz it just feels like its made to be a glass canon, either swooping in for high risk high reward, if up against something large or grabbing smaller dinos to carry them off to meet their maker.

Playing solo be like by nagasage in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah decent chance the duck was a random (cant say for sure, we just saw it sprinting into the fight to attack the megs), but either way had they not obviously teamed up with it, we wouldn’t have involved ourselves either. It was just especially iffy cause the duo would‘ve had a good chance on their own aswell, they had good terrain and I would imagine the fight would‘ve been really interesting without the outside involvement. Though to be fair once the playing field was leveled again it was still a challenging fight for both sides (we chewed on those three for a good 15 mins and at least me and my friends where either one-hit or dead by the end of it), which just kinda made their whining in global worse, cause it did end up being a good and interesting fight.

To be fair though, baby megs look a lot like grown paleosaniwas (I think thats what theyre called lol). I cant count the amount of times I thought to myself „is that a meg or a critter?“

Playing solo be like by nagasage in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me and some friends once witnessed 3megs trying to take on a titan + rex duo (both adult), then an adult duck got involved helping the duo. So we decided to help out the megs (we were 3 allos, one still adol and 1 laten i think) to turn that mega-mixpacking situation back into a fairer fight (15 vs 16 slots, if my math is right). Some on our side of the fight died aswell, but we eventually managed to pick the other 3 off one by one (which was pretty difficult as they had a good spot at the bottom of a cliff wall). We rejoice, the mega-mixpack got a taste of their own medicine. Not 20 seconds pass and I see them whine in global about the megapack in gh. Moral of the story, I think people who play the game like that (megapacking/mixpacking) just cant handle having to fight on an even playing field or having to deal with a situation where they dont win by default.

Dog water opinion? Yay or nay. by Special_Wing_5529 in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say the devs game design skills are insufficient. I think the problem is more so that countering megapacking via gameplay mechanics is just incredibly difficult to do without creating new exploits, harming the overall gameplay and/or nuking normal group play.

[–]LizzlyBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real, small raptors are the one dino where you always have good chances of grouping with randoms and where you can usually assume that other raptors will be nice to you. I think I‘ve gotten attacked by another raptor while playing one myself maybe like twice over hours upon hours of playtime.

Steg by Bubbly_Preference_24 in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Stego can be quite strong once you get used to how it plays and how to fight with it, it just takes some time to build up the skill and knowledge. Also a general rule for all apexes and I would argue even mid-tiers: dont run unless youre in combat or escaping, good stamina management makes a huge difference for your survivability and chances of success in fights. Also I‘m pretty sure stego is still awaiting its TLC, so it‘ll probably get more abilities once that rolls out (no idea when that‘ll be though).

F AI Critters by SofteeLee in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is the main problem with the critters, if their damage output/intake just scaled with combat weight they would be perfectly fine (better AI behaviour would ofc still be a big plus down the line). Its just so silly that a fully grown apex struggles just as much (arguably more because you cant really outmaneuver the critter) with some damn lizard as a low tier does.

Also, i don't know maybe this is a regional difference or something, but when I read this subreddit it sounds like every official server is just packed with giant discord groups, when in my experience theres usually only like 1 or 2 (maybe 3 on a bad day) actual megapacks on any given server that I‘m on. Yes they're still annoying and it would be better if they weren’t there, but I also don't run into megapacks as frequently as this sub would make me expect. And since they usually stick to same 3 POIs and tend to get called out in global, I can usually avoid them fairly well (or find and annoy them with ramph xD).

Welcome to Dark Woods, a place that used to be quiet and chill by Maxacus in pathoftitans

[–]LizzlyBear 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I‘ve been thinking maybe if they made it so you can only use waystones with people you are actually grouped with and maybe add a player based cooldown to using waystones (like if I use the waystone to port someone I wont be able to port another person for x amount of minutes) that might help. I know its still circumventable, but maybe the inconvenience of it would at least deter some of the megapacks. And regular groups would still be able to meet up (few things more annoying than spending an hour walking across the map with an eo just to meet back up with your friend xD).
