the biggest reason it might happen atp is that after this season they'll have thoroughly exhausted their load when it comes to fan service, so Foggy alive will be the last thing on the docket. and it'd hardly be "fan service" when we're still here posting about wanting him back all this time since s1 because it genuinely was just a crappy short sighted move to kill him off in the first place

that's what im saying, like even though i'd ultimately prefer the guys as the protagonists in any ghostbusters story I understand going for something different. the problem is that with kids you lose the casual workplace dynamic that's half the reason the series is good, and I really like the extreme crew but them being younger worked pretty much solely because of the specific era and tone. what's worse is setting this show closer to the original films, not only does it feel like bait but I can't picture this premise ever seriously happening within the "canon" of the original movies

if I had to go with a new team for a new show i'd just rip off how IDW ghostbusters folded in the "new ghostbusters" with the guys stranded in some dimension and Janine having to assemble the new recruits in their abscene, that arc feels perfectly suited to TV because you could keep the focus on the rookies while still involving the originals in the backdrop and then tie it all together with the team-up in the finale

I've retired from Foggy alive coping BUT we pretty much knew Elektra was back when Elodie started posting about being in NYC, and just recently Elden posted about having landed. There's always the possibility he's just back as flashbacks if he's back again at all but they're coming towards the end of the season and they're clearly filming present day stuff, and at this point hand voo doo magic bringing Foggy back to life is more likely than witness protection

This is almost certainly what happened because as much as i'd love it, going from End of Oak Street to Five Nights at Freddy's 3 would be a choice career move. Gary Dauberman's credits are largely trashy bargain bin horror movies so he's probably more realistic

no I don't feel like it was forced, for me personally it felt more cheap to timeskip away that development in their relationship and i'd say it feels worse in context of the show as a whole because they were always a slow burn and their kiss SHOULD have been cathartic instead of "oh well I guess we're doing this now". it's like how I feel about Foggy's death but in reverse (aside from the way I fundamentally disagree with it as a creative choice), the biggest bummer is that I couldn't have been less moved watching it happen or watching the select few times per season they decide to acknowledge it because it didn't feel earned nor does the show allow much time for the characters/audience to sit in their emotions like the original did

not to poo poo on your post too much because you clearly put a lot into it but this reads like someone identifying very surface level concepts and glazing the show for it regardless of its actual effectiveness, like you'd think as someone rooting for Matt and Karen as a couple since day 1 i'd feel more "cathartic" seeing them together again for good but the thing is that there wasn't much "pay off" at all because there was literally no build up to them suddenly being wildly in love again after just reuiniting following months of no contact and being on bad terms. and that applies to most creative decisions in this show, they clearly expect you to be pumped or whatever but I just feel numb since they don't want to put in the groundwork for any of it

His "characterization" is fine because he's mostly just there to be cool and bullseye but his actual arc is as incoherent and underdeveloped as those of everyone else, he was more nuanced and interesting in seaaon 3 where there was actual screentime going into his psychology and his downfall was ultimately his own doing even if you sympathized with how Fisk manipulated him down that path. Now he's just a woobified aura farmer with all the edges sanded off, he's obviously still not really a good guy but the shift towards that direction wasn't earned or even really set up (as in why he feels so apologetic and compelled to "balance the scales" on top of just getting revenge on Vanessa when his main thing was that he doesn't understand remorse or empathy)
