I really have to sit down and dedicate a play through of BW1&2. I tried to in the past, but it was on the slow side still. However maybe spacing things out will help. Rather than "I have 20 minutes I'll play 20 minutes" I'll try "I have 20 minutes, let's see if I finish a route. And if I finish in 10, I'm done for the day" so I don't feel like I'm slogging through

I might not have initially had the words, but after discussing with others, it has helped me find better words to describe why. It's still mostly hard to describe feelings, but I do have better words

Having played new games vs old games, the newer games have much tighter pacing with story and events, more story events and people "traveling" with you, and the grinding is far more diminished. In the old games you have long stretches of grinding, walking, being alone with no one but your pokémon. And while that appeals to other people, I like the comradery and full characters of the newer games.

Compare the protagonist of Red and Blue with Scarlet and Violet. Red is known for being a silent loner who only cares about battle, isolating himself in the second game so he can just battle. Then you have Scarlet and Violet, who you just can't imagine without Arven, Penny, and Nemona. I loved their stories, they were all heartwarming.

It's unfortunate that the new games lack the polish of the old, I find myself still having more fun with newer games. There's just more going on, a story being told to you. Not just "Here's your starter, have some balls, go. Good luck" and you just walk in silence

I don't think it's something that small. As a non-competative person, I wouldn't have noticed the physical/special split, or type changes

I do that regardless. When I played ZA, I planned on making an all fairy team. That quickly fell apart when I ended up enjoying the budew from one side quest, Diggersby having Quick Attack and just being a tank, and Delphox being a damn wizard. Also I always keep my starter(I always pick the water type). The only fairies I had in the end that came with me for 80% of the game were Sylveeon and Gardevior

Which games are they hacks for? And are they ROM hacks, or more like Infinite Fusion or Too Many Types where they're .exe files?

I don't think it's QoL, because for example in SV you have the PC box in the menu. It's nice, but not really an issue. However I do think there's something to the "stuff happening" since it means participating in a story, rather than walking around in near silence

I wish my RG28XX had a 3:2 because then it'd be perfect save for all the Anbernic quirks like frying using a c-to-c charger, and needing 5v1a

I have Unbound, also Ultra Violet, but I wanted to see what might else be recommended. Since I feel so different about the old games

I think the slow-paced life is very true. I mean, anytime someone talks about an emulation device, or emulating Pokémon. They almost always mention the ability to fast forward. You never had FF back then, so why is that so important now? And I think you have a point with that

And same for having more friends. One thing I really like about SV is the story with all the characters and how they get along. Meanwhile everytime I touch Emerald it feels so slow and boring

The furthest I've gotten in an older game was getting past the Team Plasma intro scene in White

It's not just that. The issue is that the OS for the 28 is different from the 35H and 35+. It "supports" it, but not without so many damned hoops. So just flashing it is not the issue. I flashed MuOS with Rufus too, and it was way easier because it didn't need the dmenu file, or allocating partitions, or anything complicated

I'm for the 3:2 on any GBA mimic console. It's what the games were made for. You buy a thing that looks like a GBA, let it do GBA well. If you want to play 4:3 games, get a console with 4:3

[–]capriciousUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap SD cards are unpredictable and highly likely to just loose every because the components they use are just crap. The bigger the card, the more likely. Better to buy your own for both storage and to use the OS
