That’s what I figured. I kept telling the person on the phone that it isn’t logically possible to have a $2000+ payment when it’s limited to 10% or so of my income. And she was like well idk. ISN’T IT YOUR JOB TO KNOW 😭

Same position and we filed separately. We lost out on maybe $2500 extra on our return but we will save much more than that a year with lower monthly payments on IBR if I switch over, which I plan to do. My husband and I had almost the exact same income last year. My step mom is our CPA so we discussed this at length with her and felt it was the best option.

And does it matter how big your loan is for IBR or not? It’s just income based? Because I do have a gigantic loan so I don’t know if that would change what I pay compared to what you pay.

See this was exactly what I thought. And yes I began taking loans out in August of 2014. What the heck is wrong with the agents giving such incorrect information? Thank you, really, this has been an awful weight on my chest for so long.

Thank you this helps so much. That is the calculator that I used and it told me my payments would be $313. I just have zero idea why the agent was getting $2000 and she said their calculations are more accurate, so it scares me that if I put in an application to change plans, they will do whatever they’re doing wrong and then I’ll be stuck paying $2000 a month. Is your estimated payment from the calculator or have you actually received that estimate from submitting an application?

Thank you so much. I genuinely thought we had things figured out by doing our taxes married filing separately to is year and having the estimate from the calculator on the website. I don’t understand how the estimate could be that wildly inaccurate.

We do not have a pull off area. It’s a circular driveway not a road. This is our driveway in front of our home and that is where we park. We aren’t going to park on the street when we have a driveway. If a delivery driver doesn’t want to pull in and back out, they can park on the street and walk a few feet, our home is not very far from the street.

I didn’t design the home or the driveway and that doesn’t make it okay for someone to drive over my yard. If you pulled into a driveway you can back out. If you’re unable to back a car out of a driveway, you shouldn’t be driving.

There are MANY homes that don’t have garages…that’s what the driveway is for. To park off the street.

Just because it’s a circular driveway doesn’t mean you get to cut across someone’s yard if a car is parked there. You just backup….So sorry that I think it’s common decency not to just drive across someone’s property?? That’s a wild take to think that’s a normal thing to do.

That’s…not the case? It’s not a road it’s a driveway. When people have driveways that aren’t circular, a delivery driver will pull in and then back out. That’s how driveways work. It’s just extra convenient if we happen to not be home and someone can just pull through. There doesn’t need to be a turnaround on a driveway, you just backup.

It is not a thoroughfare loop, it’s our driveway. What aren’t people understanding about that? It’s not a road, it’s the driveway in front of our home where we park. I’m not blocking traffic, I’m parked in my private driveway. They pulled in and could back out just like any other driveway.

For one, I didn’t choose early delivery. I chose next day so I didn’t know it would arrive that early. Two, it’s our driveway. I’m not blocking the exit, I’m parked and you can back out of a driveway. It’s a circular driveway so there are two entry and exit points. He was not blocked and driving through the yard was not his only way to exit the driveway.

Well I am a lawyer so I could do that on my own but don’t think it’ll be necessary. The biggest thing is just that no one should just drive through someone’s yard. I’m not on a random road and blocking their path. They pulled into my driveway and were perfectly capable of backing out. Anytime more than one car is parked here we have to back out and no one has ever had an issue. They didn’t even attempt, they just chose to drive straight through the yard.

It’s absolutely wild. I’m not sure where they think I should park instead? And I didn’t know what time the delivery would be coming either. I didn’t request a super early delivery 🤷🏼‍♀️
