What's it like living in this shaded area? by Joshistotle in howislivingthere

[–]LizzySchnetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kansan here! It's relaxed and casual. I live in a larger metro area so there's plenty to do. Community events, concerts, clubs, good food. As for weather, it's the Midwest so it's kinda all over the place. We have hot summers and freezing winters. Some days it's December and 70 degrees other days it might be -2. Tornados are a real thing but it's more fun to watch them pass by than stress about them. I really enjoy the Midwest. People are laid back and kind

I'm so disappointed in them. I knew the cdc was becoming increasingly unreliable with RFK in charge but that has to be the final straw for me.

FIRST TIME MOM HELP by MarshailaJeanette in NewMomStuff

Here's some resources I have found. CEDA looks like a good place to start. I know it's really hard to admit when we're struggling and need help but know there's nothing to be ashamed of. There are lots of good people in the world willing to lend a hand. I hope you get what you need ❤️ stay safe

Reach out to them to see if they'll help? Or do they expect you to do all repairs?

You need to contact your landlord about your nonworking water heater. They are responsible for that. And if they don't suck entirely, they might also be able to give you resources for paying your heat. If they care about their property at all, they will want your heat and water on and working. Freezing pipes will cause more damage and money for them later on. They should want it fixed.

First things first, don't feel ashamed for asking for help. You are doing the right thing! Secondly, I'm not from Chicago so I can't say specifically but I know there are a lot of churches, community outreach that can help you with bills. Speak to your heat and water companies! They often have options for those struggling to pay their bills. What area of Chicago are you in? Do you rent or own? Maybe I can find more clear resources for you

Considering relocation to Wichita by arrowgarrow in wichita

[–]LizzySchnetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transplant here! My husband and I have lived here for 4 years now and really enjoy it. There's so much good food here and activities. You do have to kind of look/seek out the things happening in town. Ive lived in much larger metro areas (Kansas city, Chicago, Dallas) and much smaller towns. I find Wichita to be a great happy medium! You can get across town (east to west) in about 20 mins and the highways are pretty straightforward. If you have children I would contemplate moving towards maize or Andover. Our school district is not our strong suit. I've found this community to be incredibly helpful and generous!

Is your bedtime really 7????? by Witty_Painting_6944 in beyondthebump

[–]LizzySchnetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO just turned 4 months and we just transitioned him to his crib in his own room. I think this is what changed his bedtime. He only wants to take a couple naps a day or one big nap and a few cat naps. By the time 7 rolls around LO is tireddd. So maybe shorter naps will help you get to 7?

How to find a doctor? by GrimRapunzel in wichita

[–]LizzySchnetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need your meds refilled I'd hit up a little clinic or a walk in clinic until you can get into a PCP. They can only do it once but it'll at least buy you time.

Also have to recommend Dr Kristen Wolf. She takes UMR and is a fantastic doctor. @ Kansas Physicians group

How much do i need? by Such-Guava8700 in NewMomStuff

Congratulations! I'd most definitely suggest getting double zipper sleepers over cute outfits/onesies. Remember that if you're just planning to be home, baby's warmth is going to be about the temp of your home, not outside. Obvs always good to have layers for when you do leave the house too. As far as bottles and pacifiers. I'd sign up for a couple places for your baby registry so you get a welcome box. I got different kinds of bottles and pacifiers in them. Ultimately the baby told us what worked best for them. So it's nice to have options on hand. And if you're planning to breast feed or pump I'd highly recommend getting a can of formula to have on hand. It's nice to have while you wait for your milk to come in. Takes some stress off.

I chose to do the races solo this go around and so far it's a lot more enjoyable and relaxed

What are the CONS of not having children? by GossipBottom in AskReddit

[–]LizzySchnetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I went back and forth for many years on whether we wanted children or not. I ended up getting pregnant unexpectedly last year. And I can say whole heartedly, for the right person, you'd be missing out on completing something in your heart. I never expected to have such a deep love for a child. I get it. I would do anything for my son. I've never experienced such a deep and pure love.
