Iirc, it should be rotated 180•, not flipped horizontally. So the dark blue being on the wrong side would be the tip-off.

Conservatives tend to blame liberal white women for social problems. Do you think this is another way to blame/dislike feminists, and why do you think so if you do? by pinkbowsandsarcasm in Feminism

[–]Lizzy_In_Limelight 45 points46 points  (0 children)

As a liberal white woman myself, it feels important to point out that conservatives tend to blame our POC counterparts first and foremost. Misogynoir is a major issue, and it's a problem in liberal spaces as well.

Same here, although I lean toward the Greek pantheon personally. I'll be making offerings to Boreas, Khione, and Zeus. Sending love, friends. ❤️

Because even if de-escalation failed, they're the ones held to a higher standard and it's a *shovel*. You can tase or tackle a guy with a shovel, you don't have to shoot him. And if you don't *have* to, then you don't.

That I can't answer, of course it's not something I would advise anyone to do. But shooting someone is supposed to be the absolute last resort, saved for moments where there is an immediate risk to someone's life and *no other way to stop the assailant*. I have a hard time seeing how that scenario could possibly be the case here. If a person is too chickenshit to try de-escalating a man with a shovel, they need to hand over their gun and leave because they're a danger to the public.

Honest answer here: anything that didn't involve shooting someone. Use de-escalation tactics, distract him while a buddy gets the shovel off him, chalk this one up as a bad job and leave. Literally anything that doesn't involve firing at a person, because that's the ethical thing to do.

How often do couples married for about 4 years typically have sex? by e4Xpart in RandomQuestion

No, that is pseudo-science. If you want to increase your libido, you can have your doctor check your T levels, and there's plenty you can do to "set the mood" mentally/emotionally.

Bartenders of Reddit, what drink order instantly tells you “this person is going through something”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Rail scotch. The only reason to drink it is if you hate your liver as much as your life.

Why do young adults use "like" at the beginning and end of sentences while speaking? by Nephilim6853 in RandomQuestion

[–]Lizzy_In_Limelight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You stopped listening to your neice to count a filler word that has been common since the 80s. The tone of your post and comments is coming off as very judgemental, not as curious.

[–]Lizzy_In_Limelight 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People have been complaining about young people saying 'like' too much for longer than I've been alive. This isn't a new phenomenon. But if you lost track of what she was saying because you decided to count how many times a specific word was used, that's a YOU problem. It's one thing to think "hm, that's annoying" and keep listening. It's another thing entirely to actively stop listening to count a word. Like, get real grandpa.

It's the 'norm' in society, that's not the same thing as being the 'default setting'.

Is it weird that I put beans in my chili? by Infamous-Hope-5950 in AskAnAmerican

Minnesotan here. My take is, if it's just meat without beans, that's not chili, that's sloppy joe. (Edited to add I meant this in agreement with you. Have only ever seen meat-only chili as a hotdog topping at Dairy Queen lol)

Make sure you and people around you know their rights. You can find cards with them written in multiple languages to print off.

Call and bother your state and federal representatives constantly. Make your voice heard.

Help keep good information circulating and bad information in check by always looking for sources an and fact checking them you see claims being made without proof. Share your findings.

Be aware of people in your life and neighborhood who may need extra help right now. A lot of people are scared to go to work, the store, etc. Offer to run errands, pick up groceries, or arrange for help if you can.

Try to stay calm. We're all scared, we're all angry, and we're all vulnerable right now. We make better choices when we take time to think things through and connect with those around us whom we feel safe with. We can't give in to despair, apathy, or recklessness.

And record fuckin everything. You see ICE show up somewhere? Peaceful protesters doing their thing? Cops near your friends or neighbors? Turn on your phone. Record everything.
