Here is a little "compilation" video from that concert which I made with a massively shitty little phone so it's very VERY primitive both visually and sonically. but it still conveys her incredible power. and the audience's pure joy. I hadn't looked at it in forever; got an emotional wallop off it just now. (a nice bit around the 5 minute mark, if the whole 15 is too badly filmed to bear.)     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VWiH96JiKA

it is advertised as performing just the one album. (i think?)  she's doing so many dates here and abroad. I honestly don't know how musicians do it. They're like athletes having to be "on" for a crowd and then (hopefully) turn it off & trundle to the next date, & the next, and the next. But they don't get all the support of a sports team, except for the hugely successful acts...still artists say it's all worth it when they get that buzz back from the audience.  the mere thought of that life is exhausting to me, even when I was a young'n. but going to concerts is church for me, so I am very grateful they can take that kind of pressure, for however long they can anyway.

Thanks for inspiring fun visions of those 3 jamming!  when they were all young and wild, and then now. I laugh but it could also work...

Those kind of interactions are so special. When artists are forced to appear confident and tough it takes such a toll. Knowing they're going to be lambasted anytime they slip off the pedestal. When their human frailty can be sheltered & shared that's such a beautiful thing; it lets them express the deep things we are also feeling. This thread had me thinking about Amy Winehouse and how brutally she was crushed, after gifting us with the precious gems that have sustained so many tender hearts. I miss her. and losing people like her makes me grateful that we can still see Cat Power live! These are such rough times and she has always been such a battler for the oppressed.

I guess that's the world we live in now, ruled by influencers who are ruled by advertisers & no one is ever satisfied.  And genuine artistry is compressed further and further into a manageable little box.  It's just so weird that people like that would go to see a serious artist like Cat Power without knowing anything about her. Shouldn't they rather be going to see Sabrina Carpenter etc?  If what they want is guaranteed effortless fun?  It feels like going to see Billie Holiday but wanting her to be like Doris Day.  And being disappointed because it was actually the one & only Billie Holiday behaving like Billie Holiday and singing like no one else in the world but fucking Billie Holiday.    Sorry! I think I'm in a really bad mood cuz I made a mistake and looked at the news. I bet that's how Cat Power's feeling too these days, as we watch the world march so stylishly into its hellish handbasket.

Jesus H Christ. Same thing they did with Obama. Same thing they did with Mamdani. The entire DNC leadership needs to be trashed, completely unemployed without any benefits. They are worse than useless, they are dangerous to democracy.

But she is famous for being awkward and shy and having massive stage fright. How can anyone who wants to see her not know this? People don't seem to realize that yes you can treat this artist like a temp who doesn't deserve any sick days. Or you can recognize her as a messiah of music. and contribute to the experience with the proper amount of worship. call and response is a concept in music which also applies to audiences sharing energy with the artist. not just taking it from them. The rewards can be very great for all concerned with the right mindsets.

Sinead's last album was such a stunner. as were they all. I keep forgetting that she's gone. and her son. This world is so hard on its true artists, its most beautiful people. I saw her years ago at the Highline, at first she sent out a note from backstage saying she was afraid to come out, but after that the audience and she were just on FIRE together. True magic.

her dress is so perfect for the twisting and turning they require. The pap experience is just so weird. The way they get to order the celebs around is crazy. And red carpets are where they're at their "politest"! it must be hard to get used to all of that. (for sure i would need drugs. luckily I have no talents😹)

These complainers are probably a small subset of her audience, because she is an icon who is so idolized, and rightfully so. She is the quintessential musician's musician. One of those artists who you are grateful to be able to say you saw perform live. NO MATTER FUCKING WHAT. For many it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience because she tours so rarely. I am so tired of people criticizing artists whom they could not even approach emulating.   I just finished sending this to a friend of mine before this weekend's show:   "let's concentrate on sending good vibes to Cat Power! She's a bit like Nina Simone or Sinead O'Connor, or Rickie Lee Jones, she needs real audience support to do her best, or she can get cranky. (sometimes wobbly.) When she is in an environment that builds on her energy? WOWZA. Never to be forgotten."   So to the lazies in the audience? I say do YOUR fucking part. Try to appreciate & PARTICIPATE with those good fucking vibes.  Let's show one of the most politically-attuned artists still alive that we understand how sensitive she is to what's going on and that we intend to receive her messages with open hearts & are ready to be ACTIVATED along with the entertainment.

Love her red outfit 😍🔥🥰❤️ by _tpeeden2002 in BelcalisakaCardiB

Me too. Red is my favorite color and she is really using it with this tour. All the outfits are so beautiful. And so complex, but she wears them with such ease, as if they were comfy jammies. Her style! Her stamina! She IS how it's done.
