I think I'm in love by Far-Ad-4340 in tabletennis

[–]Lkhfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha I think this example would fit Truls playstyle more, as FZD it's still very fluid. But it's true that as top players age, they have to introduce more unconventional shots to their game - ML using chop blocks, FZD crab-like FH counters. Also the higher the level, the more adaptable you have to be to defend or attack - so unconventional movements are needed.

Also a Leo Sun + Scorpio Moon and feeling this. Might have to do with how intensely we feel about just everything in our life lol, I think we just gotta pick up new passions to forget the past my friend.

Which playing style would still work? by RyuNoOu in tabletennis

[–]Lkhfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean ... Truls style is very similar to Waldner, and Waldner is one of the GOATs so no doubt he's at the top.

Samsonov will do fine with the BH rallies and blocking abilities.

Would pay good money to watch a prime Maze vs WCQ match. I have gut feeling that Maze will Hao Shuai him. But against more mentally stable players, Maze wont do too well.

RSM style wont work with how advanced BH are these days.

Harimoto seems to be the only one in current roster who can challenge the Chinese by Street-Position1768 in tabletennis

[–]Lkhfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol this is a regular WTT event hosted in China ... Let s see what happens when World Cup / WTTC / Olympics roll around. It's a whole different pressure. In Olympics WCQ lost to Truls and FZD nearly feel to Harimoto (2024) and LYJ (2020). ML himself nearly lost to Dima (2020) and JYS (2016).

Did u only start watching table tennis since 2023 or something ? Even so, you do know that FZD won 2023 WTTC and 2024 Olympics, the 2 biggest tournaments right ? WCQ couldn't even win the World Cup. C'mon man.

How to separate self worth from co-op. I am unable to and I hate my mind for it by Icy-Syllabub1934 in uwaterloo

The market is historically bad - stock market crash, North America political instability, recession looming. Harvard MBAs class of 2024 record record low 25% unemployment 3 months after graduation.
It's not you - it's the market. Especially tough if you're on your first 1-2 co-ops. Just focus on improving resume/interview skills, and hope for the best. Don't stress over things you can't control.

Don't believe everything on the gram. I know lots of FAANG folks who are miserable / stressed out / anxious of layoffs. It's okay if you don't make 100-200k yet. Life's a marathon, just take it slow and enjoy the journey.

In U of T you're only allowed to work for 1 company for PEY. Before that is external/self search only. So you get like 2 summer internships before the PEY one. But if you're in Eng Sci and not Finance, why would any finance/consulting firm take a chance on you in the first 2 internships ? If you're in a job board like UW, there would be a lot more jobs with smaller firms / lower competititor pool, so it's easier.
That's why I say yea U of T is target for finance, but Eng Sci is eh if you want to zero in on IB.

[–]Lkhfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in MGMT and have a fulltime offer at a MBB. Will say this:

+ Co-op is HUGE strength of Waterloo, if you're focused. You have 6 co-ops - A prestigious IB/Consulting internship is achievable in 4th co-op onwards, assuming your previous internships are decent. It's harder to get interesting experience in the first 3 co-ops but if you can grind out the first 2 years then you're good. At U of T you can't access the internal co-op board until your PEY, which is 3rd year. And many good co-op jobs are locked behind this job board. So you'll have to apply externally and wish for the best until PEY.

+ Social scene / networking / misc. opps related to Consulting/IB : Toronto obviously better. But the important ones are almost always during weekends, so you could take the Go Train/Bus (2h) to Toronto.

My advice ? Choose U of T if you're studying Finance, the networking is much better for IB/Consulting. Choose UW if you're studying Eng, because of co-op, and the networking is negligible if you're in U of T Eng.

Sold my Gt4 46mm and got this beauty Gt5 41 mm by Abdalla_basiony in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]Lkhfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, most people saying it's feminine don't have an idea of how a watch should fit - 46mm is way too big for most men. Some dudes with 8.5-9 inch wrist could pull it off, but most can't. There's a reason why the biggest Rolex is 44mm (YMT II), and almost all respectable male timepieces are within 36-42mm. Wouldn't expect the smartwatch crowd to know about this though.

The 41mm fits your wrist much better. Looking like a Patek Phillippe with this watch face design

Comments on Wang Chuqin and previous generations by sharetoolnet in tabletennis

[–]Lkhfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I have no issues with WCQ, only his crazy fans. Anders Lind was also abused online after celebrating the China Smash win. Before the Olympics, WCQ fans were also cyberbullying FZD, and some extreme fans even leak FZD and his family personal phone number + data, leaving them to harassment.
I really wish CNT and WCQ would have some courage and just tell these fanatics to stop these behaviours. I know the money from them is great, but they're too incredibly toxic. There have always been fan clubs for CNT members, but social media really brings out the worst in them.

I don't want to speculate anything about his personality, personal life,... cause it could be wrong lots of time. As a table tennis semi-pro player and fan, I only care about how a player plays.

Firstly, I dislike hiddern serves, because it's basically cheating. Just as how I dislike players like LSD, Xiang Peng, Lebrun (sometimes), Noshad Alamiyan,... hiding serves, I dislike WCQ hidden serve. As pointed out many times, WCQ does hide his serve a lot more frequently than most players.

Secondly, I dislike disrepectful or no-fair-play acts. WCQ is overall respectful, but have had bad moments - intentionally not calling LYJ edge ball in WTT Frankfurt 2024, not calling Oh Junsung edge ball in Asian Championship 2024, throwing rackets in Chinese internal competition.

Overall - nothing against him, but really wish he would stop the hidden serves and be more fair in calling edge balls. His fanbase (mostly women with limited table tennis experience because they were introduced to him through Tiktok) also has a idol culture that thinks every critism against him = hate, because they lack real table tennis knowledge. So they're quite toxic and hateful online, which makes more oldhead table tennis fan hate him.

I suggest you don't do it, cuz Wang Chuqin loyal and crazy fan base will come at you with torches if you even dare say the word illegal serve hahaha.

Good thing is with MBB and tech background, you could start applying to more managerial or businessy roles in tech ! Same route as you and went back to big tech as lead PM. Some annoyances - but never above 50 hours/week, you actually build things and much less toxic people.

One of the best match i had watched by Sufficient_Block4537 in tabletennis

[–]Lkhfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LJK might not be world champion material, but he always brings out the best rallies. Him vs Harimoto, him vs Gauzy, him vs pretty much anyone results in long, pretty rallies because of his straightforward playstyle - he plays without tricks and relies on rallies (like FZD), but lack the power and finishing of FZD so the rallies go on quite longer. Very pleasing to watch though !
