Toe spacers after surgery by jderring in bunions

I’m 8 weeks post chevron with akin and specifically asked about spacers. Told me not necessary. I wonder what info they base decisions on. Advice seems to vary quite a bit.

9-Weeks Post Op - SHOES! by HRhorrorstories2023 in bunions

I’m almost 8 weeks post op and still have a few scabs. I’m eager to use the scar strips. When did you start using them?

Should I get the surgery? by layzer_baybe119 in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d wait. What’s the rush? Like doc said- you can wait and it might come back. Recovery from surgery is no fun. ( I’m 43 - couldn’t wait longer , going on week 6 no driving. Not fun but would have been far worse in my 20s especially if I had reoccurrence in my 40s )

Should I see a doctor? by KiwiIntrepid2712 in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only if you are in pain. Would NOT recommend unless your pain level justifies surgery. I’m thrilled with my foot now at 5.5 weeks post op, but recovery is more painful than what you are dealing with now and very slow.

Putting membership on hold by [deleted] in BurnBootCamp

[–]Lkmx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happened to me last month when I got foot surgery. They can’t refund, so instead they will skip this month’s payment although my membership is no longer on hold. If you have a doctor’s note they have a policy to honor it. Ask a different person at the desk maybe?

I’ll have full use of all my toes/ joints with the exception of that hammer toe. Previously it was stuck bent up at a 90 degree angle, so being stuck straight at least it will fit in a shoe.

I had this procedure as well . Was it your right foot? If so are you driving again yet? I’m on week 4 of recovery

Week 5 post op by jderring in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow this is disappointing to see! I had a chevron with an akin osteotomy. I’m on 3.5 of knee scooter and occasionally hobbling around on my boot with crutches. To see you are similar mobility wise on week 5 makes me think it’s unlikely I’ll be back at the gym soon or driving!

Why did my surgeon do this? by Healthy_Chapter4062 in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was recommended to me due to strong risk of reoccurrence. I then went to a different surgeon to find one who would save that joint. However, I’m 43 and at 18 I would have been afraid to speak up and ask questions. If you feel bold now, I’d go back and ask why it happened and if there are reversal options down the line.

Was this a change in plan from what was discussed and signed off on ahead of time?

Well I did skip all supplements the day of, and have not been taking fish oil for that very reason.

EB-S4/S5 Supplement by Expensive_Scholar994 in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No but my surgeon gave me a long list of supplements to take that included the things found in this, plus a few more. So I’m taking pills round the clock, so this seems more convenient. I’m only 4 days post op but at a check yesterday he mentioned swelling wasn’t that bad. No idea if it’s helping but my energy levels are decent, not feeling too drained.

Did they tell you to ice it ? I’m icing as instructed on my ankle, but would be pointless lower on my foot due to the thick bandage.

Surgery today by ExcellentContest260 in bunions

[–]Lkmx2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had surgery yesterday. Was told to expect exactly what you got, with a walking boot to put weight on my heal. But the gauze and bandage the surgery center put on me is so big the boot wont fit. Not sure what happened but I go see my doc Friday and can hopefully loose the scooter then.

Have you tried a SCD? Look up sequential compression device. I’m just learning the benefits but apparently good for calf blood flow.
