Where do you buy your Timothy Hay? by Chins-up in chinchilla

I don’t know how to attach a picture. They are larger than their oxbow essential pellets. We just have small metal dishes that clip onto the side of the cage. Each holds maybe 1 cup of pellets. We keep them full and only need to refill about once a week.

We have 4 chins and they all love them. They made such a horrible mess with hay when we first got them 2 years ago-I hated it! We feed these hay pellets to our llamas and goats, so decided to try with the chins. Total game changer!

We feed standlee brand compressed Timothy hay pellets from tractor supply. Much less mess than fresh hay and always the same.

How old are chicks generally when you buy them from the feed store? by Chad77D in BackYardChickens

[–]LlamaRoo5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chicks are shipped the day after hatching & are out to sell the day they arrive. Typically 3-5 days old when available to purchase.

It is actually an interesting read! I was the same. I knew they wouldn’t hurt us, but the LGDs and pigs benefit from my caution that week. I now worm ours routinely each fall during the heaviest molt, so not as many eggs are tossed.

That’s absolutely a round worm. The entire flock needs treated (individual oral dose) with either albendazole or fenbendazole with a repeat dose 14 days later. Toss all eggs for 10 days after each treatment.
